    The Road to Civil War Gaming UnitEssential Content Objectives:

    Be able to identify and explain the key pieces of slavery legislation and how these pieces of legislation pushed the countrytowards civil war

    Be able to identify and explain key figures in the Abolitionists Movement.

    Be able to explain the arguments used to justify slavery and its use in the US

    Be able to explain popular sovereignty Be able to explain Manifest Destiny and how it pertained to westward expansion of people of European ancestry of the United

    States

    Be able to identify and explain key pieces of technology that were invented during this time period and their effect on thepeople of the United States

    Unit Requirements:

    Students must achieve level 3 in at least 2 categories.

    Students must achieve level 2 in the 2 of the remaining categories.

    Grading System

    Level Point Totals:

    Level 1: 10 points each (part of ISN grade = Participation grade = 30% of your final grade)

    Level 2: 20 points each (part of ISN grade = Participation grade = 30% of your final grade)

    Level 3: 40 points each (Homework grade = 15% of your final grade)

    Playing the Game

    You must beat level 1 before you progress to level 2 and level 2 before level 3, and so on and so on.

    You will have to come and show Mr. Irwin that you have completed a level and then he will give you

    the next assignment that you want to work on

    You are encouraged to ask Mr. Irwin for help whenever needed and you may also collaborate with your fellow students aswell, THIS IS NOT AN INVITATION TO COPY/CHEAT, ANY COPYING WILL RESULT IN A ZERO.
