ABOUT THE DIRECTOR ...

MONTY ASH. Our most distinguished actor/director. He brings alifetime of theatrical know-how to our stage. He began his career asa child actor in English pantomimes, attended the Royal Academy ofDramatic Arts and has been active in every phase of the theatre inEngland and both costs of the United States. His favorite role wasArt Hockstader in THE BESTMAN. He directed A VIEW FROM THEBRIDGE which won the Los Angeles County Adult Drama Award in1967. He is also very active in the business affairs of Kentwood,being on the Board of Directors, and Publicity and Public RelationsChairman.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

,CATHY JONES. The co-producer of NOBODY LOVES AN ALBATROSS.This is her first solo production task, which she accepted due to thesudden illness of the original producer. Without many previous.credits she nevertheless indicates that she will be one of our bestproducers, by virtue of continuous work, at all hours, and the happyfacil ity of getting others to pitch in and help. She feels she is fortu-nate in being able to work with such an illustrious director.

ABOUT THE CAST . . .

KARL THOMAS (Mr. Frederick Ritter) Majored in Drama and Art. Hisfirst professional appearance (THE DRUNKARD) lasted 18 years. Apast Kentwood prexy, he is also a director, set designer. He directedKentwood's A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THEFORUM and won a best minor award for his role in THE TENTH MAN.

FRED BAUM (Mr. Huxley Hossefrosse) Well known on the Europeanstages as a stand-up comedian, he was forced to flee Austria whenHitler took over. He has appeared on TV frequently. On the Kent-wood stage, his favorite holes have been in THE TENTH MAN andTHE GREAT SEBASTIANS. He is the musical comedy director forVenke High School.

MAX HELDRING STORMES (Mr. Spindler) Born in Tsingtao, China ofNavy parents, he has appeared on stages throughout the world, in-cluding the Pasadena Playhouse, and in Old Globe Theatre Shake-spearean festivals. He is also an artist and set designer. His mostrecent role was as Jose, the muleteer, in Kentwood's MAN OF LAMANCHA.

PERRYPAGE (Mr. Ralph Twiller) born in Norwalk, Conn. His time isequally divided between TV appearances and the Kentwood stage,where he appeared in GUYS AND DOLLS, and more recently inNOBODY LOVES AN ALBATROSS.

JERREPAINE (Teddy Spearing) Born in Toulon, France, has appearedon French, Japanese and U.S. stages since the age of 1O.He is aprofessional dress designer and display artist, and did the costumesfor this production. (See sketches in the foyer). His acting creditsinclude TAMING OF THE SHREW and BELL, BOOK AND CANDLE.

IRVING NORD (Mr. Stage Manager) Born in Brooklyn, served his'stage apprenticeship on the "Borscht Circuit," where he excelled asa stand-up and fall-down comedian. He appears in many of the localTemple shows, and was recently seen on our stage in CASE OFLIBEL.

JAN MARCOM (Mrs. Paula Ritter) Her first appearance on any stage,was in a twin sister, song and dance act at the age of four ... andshe hasn't been off-stage since. A founding member of KentwoodPlayers, she has served in many capacities, in addition to acting. Aformer Kentwood prexy, she also won the Danny Thomas Award forBest Comedy Performance, her role in BLITHE SPIRIT. She has ap-peared in 28 Kentwood productions and two Masque Awards, forMadame Arcati in BLITHE SPIRIT and as Mrs. Durant in CACTUSFLOWER.

DIA KAY (Mrs. J. Duro Pampinelli) Also one of the first year mem-bers, was born in a stage trunk. On-stage since the age of five, shehas appeared in light opera, and owned and operated her owntheatre (Playhouse 26). She received the Los Angeles County AdultDrama Award as Outstanding Actress for her role in VIEW FROMTHE BRIDGE and a Masque Award for her role in MAN OF ALLSEASONS. She is married to a doctor and they have four children ...hence is writing a play about her family life.

ADA LILLY (Mrs. Nelly Fell) From an old carnival family, was doingthe hoochy koochy dance on the Midways at the age of eight. Herprofessional credits include an eight-year run in THE DRUNKARDwhere she met and married KARL THOMAS. She majored in Speechand Drama at UCLA, and recently won a Masque Award for BestSupporting Actress in ABSENCE OF A CELLO.

LEE KESSLER(Miss Florence McCrickett) holds a Master's Degree inDrama. Was a college drama teacher, and director of universityproductions (Univ. of Wisconsin) for many years, which included aDOLL'S HOUSE and THE FANTASTIKS. This is her first role withKentwood Players.

SUSAN SHARP (Mrs. Clara Sheppard) Previous stage appearances inschol plays and summer stock. This is her first appearance on theKentwood stage. Off-stage she operates as a free-lance writer andadvertising copy writer. Her most recent role was as Mrs. Warrinerin DESKSETwith the Facets Players.

LINDA KITCH (Jenny) Majored in Drama and Speech at Univ. of Calif.Her first theatrical experience has been at the Westchester Playhouse,which has included most of the unsung tasks behind the scenes, in~eluding operating lights and sound, props, clean-up, etc. She hasappeared on stage in several KP workshops. (LAST OF RED HOTLOVERS, etc.)

JOHN K. HERSHEY (Male Understudy) Born in Chicago. StudiedDrama at Univ. of Illinois. Has appeared on TV and in summerstock in the Midwest. He recently appeared in THE BESTMAN. '-
