St. Ann Mission Statement: St. Ann Church is a community of faith within the Roman Catholic tradition. Through celebra-
tion of Eucharist and participation in the Sacraments we seek to live our lives as a welcoming family that strives to make
known the living presence of Jesus Christ in the ministry of our everyday lives. Empowered through the word of God we rec-
ognize the call to serve as the defining mark of our community. Personal involvement through participation in one or more of
the ministries to serve the needs of our parish family and local community is invited and encouraged. The Family Center is an
extension of St. Ann Church as a place of welcome and renewal where we strengthen the bonds of community and work to-
gether for the building of the Kingdom of God.
St. Patrick Mission Statement: The mission of St. Patrick Church is to respond faithfully to God’s call as a Roman Catholic
Community. The celebration of Eucharist and the Sacraments are central to our parish life. We seek to care for one another
and to reach out to those members of our community who are in need.

“Rediscover their Spiritual Roots”
Pope Francis, in his encyclical The Joy of the Gospel,
continually raises the need for the Church to reach out to
people - in a spirit of welcome, understanding and mercy.
The Diocese of Springfield, under the leadership of Bishop
Rozanski, has begun planning for an evangelization process
designed to reach out to those who may be disenfranchised
in some way, inviting them to Rediscover their Spiritual
Roots. It is our hope that this process will encourage
people to take a fresh look at our church and faith
tradition.
In order for us to plan an effective program we need to hear
from you about your experiences with the church, the
strengths you perceive and the areas which cause you
difficulty or may need more attention.
Please consider participating in and sharing with local
family and friends an on-line survey now available which
will help us understand these issues. It is open through
October 5 to all active and inactive Catholics, as well as
non-Catholics who work and collaborate with our faith
community. The survey can be accessed through both
diospringfield.org and iobserve.org. Thank you in advance
for sharing your thoughts with us!
CHARITY TO THE HOMELESS
The Frederick and Renee Keator family will be spending
time in Philadelphia to take part in the Pope’s first visit to
the United States, which will take place Sept. 22-27. They
would like to extend an invitation to their fellow
parishioners to help them reach out to the homeless of that
area. Boxes will be placed in the vestibule of the Church in
which you may donate items such as: toothpaste, tooth
brushes, soap, lotion, socks, protein bars etc. These items
will then be placed in zip-lock bags to be distributed
among the needy.
The deadline for donations is Sunday, Sept. 20th. In
advance, sincere thanks for being a part of this wonderful
opportunity.
FOUNDERS’ DAY WEEKEND AT ST. MARY’S: The week-
end will start out with St. Mary’s School “Fried Dough” @ “Taste
of Lee” on Friday night, the 18, in front of Kelly’s Funeral Home.
SMS will also have our annual Mum and Bake Sales at the church
on the weekend of September 18-20, 2015. Please consider pur-
chasing some delicious baked goods throughout the weekend!
Your home (or your place of work) will look stunning with mums
that you can buy from us! Pre-order sale forms are available at
St. Mary’s rectory, 243-0275, or the school 243-1079.
Sunday Sept. 20th from 11 to 12:30 in the Parish Cen-
ter — lower level, Diane Lesure, our Victim Assistant,
will hold a makeup session for CORI/Code of Conduct for
those readers, EMs, employees, CCD teachers and all
those ministering to children and the elderly.
Once again, we are mandated to CORI check all adults
who minister to the elderly and children. If you can not
make this session please call Diane Lesure.
Thank You to Our Circle of Friends
This past Tuesday, the St. Ann Family Center hosted
one of it’s largest all day events, as we welcomed priests
and deacons from throughout the diocese along with our
retired Bishop and current Bishop, for a workshop on
evangelization.
Once again, our Circle of Friends hit the ball out of the
park by setting up the room, serving lunch with a smile and
then cleaning everything up in time for the afternoon
session. Many priests and deacons commented on what a
blessing the Circle of Friends must be in the parish, and I
couldn’t agree more.
Again, thank you to the Circle of Friends!!

Short Excerpts
Taken from Pope Francis’ Addresses And Homilies
JESUS’ VOICE IS UNIQUE
The mystery of [Jesus’] voice is evocative. Only think that
from our mother’s womb, we learn to recognize her voice
and that of our father; it is from the tone of a voice that we
perceive love or contempt, affection or coldness. Jesus’
voice is unique! If we learn to distinguish it, he guides us
on a path of life, a path that goes beyond even the abyss of
death.
This excerpt was taken from the book, “Pope Francis
Speaks to Our Hearts, Words of Challenge and Hope” by
the Word Among Us.
Vinny Flynn, best-selling author of 7 Secrets of the
Eucharist, and Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, Director of the Marian
Helpers Association are teaming up to lead a Mary,
Mercy, & the Eucharist pilgrimage to Italy, October 18-

world, four Eucharistic miracle sites, the incorrupt body of
St. Clare, the Holy House of Nazareth, the tomb of Padre
Pio, and Rome, including a papal audience. Includes daily
Mass with Fr. Chris, a series of short teachings from
Vinny, as well as a "Hem of the Garment" healing service

Lenox Food Pantry
The Lenox Food Pantry could use our help in stocking
the pantry shelves. There are many families in need of a
little bit of extra help and the Lenox Food Pantry is a vital
part of that help. The pantry’s shelves are very bare these
days, so please remember to bring a non-perishable food
item to church with you whenever possible. As we ap-
proach fall and then winter, the need will be increasing.
Just a reminder; when making a donation of canned
goods etc.. Please be aware of the expiration date printed
on the item. St. Ann’s cannot bring the item to the pantry if
the date has come and gone, nor can the pantry give out the
item to anyone.
Thank you to everyone who has donated in the past! It
really does make a difference.
