When is it? What is it ? How do we celebrate it ? Is it on Saturday or Sunday ? Is it part of the Old Testament types ? What was the penalty for disobeying it ?

Many righteous men in the Old Testament did not keep the sabbath. Adam, Abel, Enoch, Lot, Noah, Melchizedek, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph- to them the Sabbath was unknown

This word ‘rested’ in Genesis 2 was,

Shab. 7:2) and smearing the clay on his eyes, possibly a prohibited anointing (m. Shab. 14:4).43 This provoked a controversy between the Pharisees, the man and his parents. We must understand several things regarding the Sabbath, to properly practice it.

In the Old Testament, it was a day of rest – Not a day to go to Church and

Moral laws are generally considered timeless, eternal, and universal, based on God's own character, and therefore

in force today.

Being honest, showing respect, not committing adultery, honoring your parents- these are moral

laws. Jesus continued these laws, giving us an even

greater understanding of their implications.

Civil laws had much to do with how people interact

in society on a legal basis. Honoring contracts, land

boundaries, not stealing or committing murder- these were civil laws.

the application of the Law, the primary Law also remains intact.

Laws that don’t make much sense without the revelation of God that accompanies them. They have to do with offering

sacrifices, incense, rituals, cleansing rites, and holy days. They were meant to address

man not from a moral or legal perspective, but from a Spiritual.

later revealed in greater spiritual experiences.
