This month’s Ordinary Council Meeting will take place on Tuesday 25 October at 4pm in Council Chambers for Council to consider:

Recognising Community HeroesEach year on Australia Day, the Citizen of the Year Awards give local government around the state the opportunity to acknowledge the contribution and celebrate the active citizenship of Western Australians at a local community level.

Nominations are now open for 2017. Do you know an outstanding individual or group who has made a difference in our community? The Community Citizen of the Year Awards will be presented on Australia Day 26 January 2017.

The awards foster, recognise and celebrate significant contributions to community life and active citizenship by local citizens in all local government areas of Western Australia. Australia Day Awards promote national pride, community responsibility and participation.

There are many people who make a difference in our daily lives in Esperance and last year we saw some very deserving nominees including Emergency Services and community groups involved with the Esperance bushfires, Saving Animals From Euthanasia (SAFE) Esperance, Bay of Isles Community Outreach (BOICO) and a number of outstanding community minded people.
