Industrial Tyres

Continental has based its new classification of indus-

trial tyres on our customers‘ demands and require-

ments. Previously, industrial tyre classification has

relied on technical or construction-based descripti-

ons, often omitting important considerations such as

application and terrain or surface.

We have designed this brochure to work in the way

you do - you know what job your industrial tyres are

required to do, on which vehicle and where they will

be used. This brochure lists Continental industrial

General characteristics

The construction of Industrial Pneumatic Tyres ensu-

res excellent ride comfort on unpaved ground even

at high speeds. Also recommended for use on public

roads.

Solid Tyres are best for tough applications on slow

vehicles or trailers with a high risk of impact and cut

damage. They are extremely stable, puncture resistant

and maintenance free.

Solid tyres have a high load capacity and are extreme-

ly economical, ideal for all types of forklift trucks.

MPT Tyres are designed for mixed on-/off-road use

and with a strong emphasis on winter operations. The

construction and tread design enables the tyres to

give excellent traction and also to be able to run to a

high speed index.

EM (OTR) Tyres are extremely resistant to damage and

achieve excellent traction even on difficult terrain. EM

(OTR) Tyres are designed for off-road applications.

For vehicles that carry goods safely for longer

distances higher than average industrial tyre speed.

Unpaved ground: the surface consists mainly of a

wet, compressed, uneven ground with some bumps

(i.e. skreed, stones, gravel, rocks).

Mixed ground: the surface is a mix of paved and

unpaved ground including a high level of soil, mud

and sand.

Paved ground: the surface consists mainly of paved

asphalt. The ground is of good quality with few bumps

and cracks.

Smooth hall floors: the surface is a smooth, com-

pressed concrete, usually undercover so kept dry.

For vehicles that lift goods vertically, often in very

narrow spaces. Frequent changes of direction, acce-

leration and braking are required.

Special information: the load capacity and therefore

the size of the tyre will be selected and approved by

the vehicle manufacturer. Changes are possible only

as far as a manufacturer released option.

This brochure refers to the choice of tyre type

(pneumatic and solid-tyres) and the profile. It should

be noted that the conversion from pneumatic to solid

tyres will improve stability. Before changing over from

solid tyres to pneumatic tyres, you should consult the

manufacturer about using a different load capacity.
