In an ever increasingly competitive market, the aviation industry endures massive on-goingeconomic pressure. Initial parts provisioning, anticipation of spares requirements, parts

reliability, turn–around-time, repair management, stock management, warranty managementare some of airlines’ crucial tasks. They require considerable up-front

Having the GMA is about having the reliability, theavailability and the diversity of support solutionsonly an aircraft manufacturer, together with its OEMpartners, can offer. Predicted fly-by-the-hour costswith the integration of operators’ specifics andexpectations, form the basis of its success.

Examples of what can be included in the GMA: repairand overhaul of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), ofmain elements (landing gears, engines, propellers),rotables maintenance, spare provisioning…

The Parts Management module is:

• A cash flow tool, as it enables signi-ficant reduction of up-front and opera-tional investments• A time saving tool, as it single sour-ces spares from an integrated supplychain.• An operational tool, as it guaranteestimely spares availability and reducesdowntime. In addition, availability andloan of main elements is offered asand when required.

Operators do not need to invest in high value LRUs. With regard to the minimum equipment list(MMEL) stock holding, further assistance is at hand with the ATR option of leasing inventories.

A highly beneficial complement to the on-site inventory is the ATR’s Pool Access Service offering“up-front” standard exchanges with guaranteed lead times for the delivery of LRUs.

Paris is the main distribution center for localisedwarehousing of pool supplies.

A modular approach The GMA concept is to offer as many solution as possible to airlines’ operationalmaintenance contraints. Such concept was born out of ATR’s belief that each airline hasspecific needs and ideas on how to best run its operations. Air Austral has been operating one ATR72-500 underthe ATR GMA since July 2000. An immediately obviousbenefit became the minimisation of “aircraft on theground” time. Indeed, the GMA support brings aboutnotable avoidance or reduction of delays.
