“I have visited the previous edition of TrafficInfraTech

Expo at Hyderabad. I find a lot of effort being put in to

bring together all the concerned stakeholders at one

place. I am really impressed with the kind of stalls and

the products showcased at the expo. I am informed about a medium speed weigh-in-motion bridge, that can measure up to a speed of 65kms an hour. One is convinced that in the next four-five years road safety is going to remain the focus” said Yudhvir Singh Malik, Secretary, MoRTH who inaugurated Smart Mobility Expo along with the Industry leaders.

Supported by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, NITI Aayog and other organisations, the three-day Expo witnessed a rare combination of high-level business activity, knowledge sharing and networking with a bit of fun too. For Australian Trade and Investment Commission, the coming in of

the younger generation about various aspects of road safety in a fun and colourful manner, TrafficInfraTech magazine in association with Indian Road Safety Campaign (IRSC) had organised Road Safety Awareness Competitions for Mumbai Colleges starting from September 2018.

Awareness Session for colleges

A complete module on awareness was designed in such a manner that the session made students realise why it is important to follow rules on roads including importance of road safety, safety gears, safe braking, road signs & road markings and how to avoid accidents.

The championship worked on multiple levels using the competitive

spirit of the youth to deliver a long-term sustainable impact and to create a Safer India!

Road Safety Awareness Competition

The students participated and conducted many diverse, innovative and creatively indulging activities with road-safety as the theme. The competition served as a platform for all the participants to express their views through Slogans, Essays, Blog, Poem, One-liner, Paintings, Drawings, etc. in a time limit. The top 10 performers of each college were invited to the Expo. The winners of the competition were chosen from 12 different colleges.

During the session on ‘Road and Vehicle Safety’ during the Conference. Abhay Damle, Joint Secretary, MoRTH gave away cash prizes and certificates to winners.

Exhibitors were equally elated to meet up with the right kind of solution seekers and decision-makers. The exhibitors opined that the companies they wanted to be associates with were present at the event and they could discuss with fellow exhibitors too, along with the visitors, their product offerings.

Cutting across barriers, the Show facilitated accessibility of important dignitaries and business stakeholders, a process that otherwise would have taken much individual time and effort.

The Conference with the theme ‘Driving Smart Mobility’ covered areas like Capacity Building and New Mobility Plans for India; Emerging Technology for Highways, Road and Vehicle Safety: Policies, Trends and Technology; Mobility and Smart Cities, Parking Management, Reinventing Public Transport,

This was an initiative taken by TrafficInfraTech which aimed at spreading

TrafficInfraTech Expo for the fifth year in a row. We are very happy with the response received from the visitor/delegates.

Abhay Damle Joint Secretary Ministry of Road Transport & Highways

Technology existed but there was no appropriate platform to showcase traffic solutions. TrafficInfraTech Expo is an umbrella for displaying solutions like Highway Traffic Management, Transport Management and other

related technologies. Such solutions will sensitise the policymakers and even road-users to adopt these technologies. The most important part in view of congestion and ever-increasing vehicular growth is to have an efficient technology/ solution for transport whether it is in toll collection, movement or utilisation of GPS. And the Expo has been able to put on display these solutions.

I found the interlocking temporary barriers unique, which can interlock and cover up

a pot-hole. We had only heard about the alchometer, but I saw an interesting solution for testing the drug levels. These were good solutions, but we can enforce only when we measure. If solutions are available, it can pave a new way for enforcement.

J K Goyal Chief General Manager (Technical), National Highways Authority of India

Smart Mobility Expo is a wonderful initiative by the organizer. The seminar sessions were very interactive and fruitful. This was the right platform to convey government policies and show the larger picture of the road and highway projects undertaken by the government.

This is our third consecutive year at the Expo and we are very pleased to participate in this year’s show. We have showcased many new products like

VMS, an Australia-based Speed Enforcement system brand and Safety Roller Barriers. It has been a great Show and also the Conference was very interesting. We are hoping to participate in the next Show too.

Nikhil Desai Managing Director Department of Transport, Goa

The world is rapidly changing and exhibitions like TrafficInfraTech put us face to face with what are the latest trends and the new technologies. We were able to interact first-hand with the original equipment manufacturers, understand processes and drawbacks. We were highly impressed with the equipment on display, especially when it came to enforcement, road safety & engineering, and overall traffic

management. We got to see products on smart traffic and transport management. We will be getting back to these exhibitors, as we are in the process of modernising our force, effective with minimum manpower and make people compliant to road safety norms. The solutions to regulate the traffic, stop offences and all is present in this exhibition. Congrats to the team for putting up such a good show.

Derrick Pereira Neto Managing Director Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd

Being in the transportation business, it is not only about preparing a bus or transporting commuters; it requires a lot of maintenance as well. We are looking at cost cutting measures, and here we have seen a lot of products and solutions. Like ticketless transaction or putting boomers which do not require manpower, but just machines.

The seminar sessions were innovative and informative. We have learned that certain things we were doing in a wrong way. When we go back, we will discuss about where we have to take corrective measures, and which are the

Amar Vazirani Engineering Officer, Goa PWD

We had planned for one ITS project in the state of Goa, and we came to explore the latest technologies in ITS; we found there were many companies under one roof and we have invited a few companies to Goa to present their solutions. We are precisely looking for Traffic Management and Automated Signalling solutions for the ITS project. There are certain set of components like e-challaning, automated licensing without human

interference, emergency calling and few others which we intend to integrate, implement and design the project for our state. We also saw good vehicle weighing system and parking-related solutions. The conference sessions were quite educative and informative.

We are associated with TrafficInfraTech expo from very long, and this year we participated as Silver Partner. We met Consultants and traffic police officials and could directly interact and give them solutions.

Vijay Kataria Additional Director General of Police - Traffic, Madhya Pradesh

Cities like Bhopal and Indore come under the Smart City project, as you know, Road Safety and Traffic Management are very part of this project. Our overall experience has been very good because I am

attending such an expo for the first time. All

products are visible at one place. Specially the road safety products. I have suggested to exhibitors that all products connected to road safety should be put on the site, so that they can be purchased in an easier way.

There were other products like crash barriers and other equipment connected to road safety very interesting. I will be forwarding the information to other department of the State government.

Pramila Pandey Mayor, Kanpur Municipal Corporation

I am pleased to be at the TrafficInfraTech Expo. In fact, whatever I have seen and learned here, I will be taking it back to our department heads. I was happy when one solution provider said “give me parking space of three vehicles and I will give you space to park 50 vehicles”. This will particularly be useful in solving the parking problem at many of our old market areas in Kanpur.

I attended TrafficInfraTech Expo and its conference. I also moderated the discussion of technical session on “Emerging Tolling Technology and Implementation Challenges”. The Expo provide the widest coverage of road related technologies, one could meet and connect with many suppliers with innovative solutions. Conference was well attended as Secretary (MORTH) himself devoted time to answer questions on critical as well as emerging issues.

For me most interesting part of the day was the technical session. My co-panelists were both lucid

and incisive. I definitely felt that there was adequate learning and connectivity opportunities in the Expo and consider it as a day well-spent.

Improving urban mobility and reducing traffic congestion are the two challenges that needs immediate attention. Currently, the Smart Cities Mission is aimed at solving

the urban mobility issues by using smart technologies and infrastructure. We will see an improved urban mobility landscape in the impending times, which eventually will benefit the cities and citizens. This will also help in solving the challenges of productivity loss and pollution in cities and make them more livable…

Senthil Mariappan CEO, Datacorp Traffic

This is a very special year for Datacorp, as it has completed 10 successful years of

business. Datacorp already has its presence in Asia, and the company will be spreading its wing in African continent as well for traffic data collection. The point is, we need to change the technology to suit the Indian road conditions. Ultimately, the aim is to provide accurate data for the clients.

Datacorp’s latest innovation is based on Video Analytics using AI and machine

learning, the technology is video-based Automatic Traffic Counter & Classifier.

TrafficInfraTech Expo has been an excellent platform; it brings together key people. This year, we got go-ahead green signal to implement & pilot video-based ATCC systems in city of Bhopal and Chennai. With our continued growth in domestic-market along with our latest innovations, we will be participating in a bigger way in the next Expo.

Kalpana Vishwanath Director, Safetipin

It has been a fantastic experience being part of the “Women on Traffic” session of the Conference on gender issues and women’s empowerment need to be mainstreamed. There is no point of us talking about

something and all the other traffic people talking about what we call as the hard issues. I think that one needs to bring these together and so I was very pleased to see that a larger number of panellists were women and a larger number of audiences were men. These are the men who are working in the transport sector in the government, in companies, in the start-up technology. I really look forward to the conference next year too.

The show is fantastically done. From the exhibition perspective, there is a cross section of technologies being presented which is important when somebody comes to a Show like this. From the conference perspective, the subjects are very good, forward looking and thought provoking in many ways, which sets a stage to a dialogue with the stakeholders. These are the things which I liked the most. From

We had a very good experience. This time, HIKVision has introduced a lot of solutions for Highway Safety & Road Safety like Smart Pole and Emergency Box. In camera segment,

we have deep-learning based products and AI-based Video Analytics to improve the safety of the road by identifying analytics like wrong-way vehicle detection system, illegal parking system and other aspects.

We were very excited about the guests who visited this Expo. Big contractors like L&T, DGPs, BEST and many more who came to visit our stall, appreciated our AI-based products, which they believe can improve the daily aspects of connectivity and transportation. service provider and be able to see such

solutions being delivered.

Ashish Shukla Conseillere Inde Junior, Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry

I am very impressed by the Expo. I should

say I have attended a lot of such events but

this expo was very systematically organized,

right from the cafeteria to the conference.

A lot of international participation also

contributed greatly. I look forward to Traffic

Infra Tech Expo next year too!!

Ravi Devaguptapu President, FTE India

We specialize in Road Safety solutions and

pleased to see good information in this area.

We are also keen to include them in Florida.

Aishwarya Raman Associate Director, Ola Mobility Institute

Traffic Infra Tech Conference is the only one in recent times

which actually focused on gender and mobility and has looked at that intersection. We had so many other mobility conferences, not only in India but across the world that has failed to address the very issues of 50% of the world population, in accessing

their work places, in accessing their places of education in all the other ad hoc trips that women and other vulnerable groups may. So kudos to the organizers for recognising this as an important enough subject and to also have it on your concluding day as this is when there is a lot of attention given to this conference itself.

The Conference was very interesting. There is so much growth going on in India that Traffic Operations take a back seat to the growth and capacity needs of the country. It’s very interesting to see that there are lot of opportunities for maximising traffic safety in India.
