Abstract: This presentation will focus on the support of effective patientprovider  communication  across  medical  settings  for  childrenand  adults  with  complex  communication  needs. Communication  vulnerable  patient  groups  will  be  described,five  communication  intermediaries  groups  will  be  describedand  the  roles  of  these  intermediaries  will  be  outlined  fordifferent communication vulnerable people and the settings inwhich they are served. Medical procedures such as the varioustypes  of  referrals  will  be  reviewed.  Finally,  a  range  ofcommunication  support  goals,  policies,  and  strategies  forthese  patients  and  their  providers  will  be  reviewed  anddemonstrated.
