Director of Service Projects: Kristi Pieper Rummage Sale Report: Anne Cleator and Deby Heramb

• Announce dates for 2017 Rummage Sale Dates for the Rummage sale are March 3 to March 11, 2018

• Storage Information

• The theme for the preview Party is The M*A*S*H BASH. We are having lots of fun with ideas around the M*A*S*H (TV show and movie) theme and will be using them throughout the week. Lunches will be served in the “Mess Hall”, facilities will be labeled as the “Latrines”, and many other creative ideas just for FUN! Costuming and attire for the preview party based on our theme (fatigues, Hawaiian shirts, scrubs, bathrobes, etc) will of course be encouraged!

• Sign up sheets for volunteer opportunities will be available at the November meeting.

• Kristi has a proposal to share from Lora Heramb and Minerva Wirick concerning the ticket prices for the Preview Party. Ann Cleator, Almiede Arnell and myself as the three RS Chairman all support her proposal. We will leave that to Kristi to present.

• We had our first day of receiving storage this last Saturday morning,

October 30th and collected a good amount of storage! We have two units at A-1 Self Storage on Hotel Circle, same location as previous years. The ladies there are wonderful and take very good care of TTC. We have two more dates for this year to receive storage: October 28th and November 11th. We do not generally receive storage in December and we will assess how much space is available or if we need to rent another for January. By February, unless we have space in the rented units, we generally encourage holding on to rummage to bring to the park.

• Janet McKeown’s garage is at capacity with rummage collected over the summer. Again, we are so grateful for the use of this space so that we didn’t have to pay rent for storage during the summer. We were not notified of any estates, so we may be a little behind on accumulated rummage compared to last year ☹

• To meet with the department chairman, our plan, rather than meeting

with all departments together, is to divide the departments into similar ones and meet with in small groups. We feel that we will get more accomplished this way to talk about their similar needs and some ideas that may help to speed up the checkout process by coordinating and streamlining some of the item pricing. I.e.: Meeting with Ladies department, Men’s, Hats & Purses. Meeting with Kitchen, Brick-Brac and Holiday, etc. We are arranging these meetings to take place over the next few months. We have already met with Cashiering to go over some ideas to improve the flow and speed of check out, we are scheduled to have a meeting with the Junior Chairman and then start with the small group meetings with all department chairman. We know we will benefit from their experience in these departments and look forward to meeting their needs and ideas for any change for improvement.

• On the subject of department chairman, after coming to the board for permission to have a Junior work as co-chairman in the Ladies department, it has just come to our attention that due to personal circumstances, that particular Junior (Diana Day) will be going inactive. Debbi Greaves is willing to stay on as chairman but we will be looking for another co-chair. Debbi addressed the members asking for someone to please step up to help her co-chair the ladies department.

thinking. Did you know JFK Jr. failed the bar exam 3 times? On the 4rth try, he hired a hypnotist to get him through the testing process… and he passed!

• Deana’s objective, through fun and entertainment, is to: • Share the mesmerizing science of visionary thinking and how it can

be utilized to evoke creativity and goal setting. • • Share a powerful Self Hypnosis demonstration so you can tap into

2nd VP Rentals: Leigh Ann gave report in Francesca Theim’s absence.

• Rentals report is posted on the back bulletin. As of Wednesday, October 25, The Thursday Club will have Security at most of its events (General Membership events excluded). We have contracted with Elite Security for one security guard to be posted outside of the clubhouse during events to better service the outside perimeter of the property, as well as surrounding street parking area. We look forward to continuing positive neighbor relations in lieu of our new security policy. Our future rental rates for any new contracts will reflect the cost of hiring security. Our clubhouse rental rate for non-members is now $3,900.00. Any extra rental hours of the

clubhouse will now be at a rate of $350/ hour instead of the current rate of $300.

• In our upgraded rental contract, we have also included a mandatory requirement of a “day-of” Event Coordinator, to be onsite during weddings. This will not be a price adjustment from The Thursday Club, but will be something that the Bride and Groom will need to designate and coordinate. Other venues like ours already have this policy intact and it will be a tremendous help to Chris to facilitate that events run more smoothly.

• The Rental report is posted on the back wall for all other rental information.

• The kitchen has been cleaned, organized and inventoried under the leadership of Chris Khouri and her hard-working volunteers.

• The new laminate flooring and carpeting has been installed in the manager’s apartment and the office, and the office has a new chair. Thanks to Vicki Lareau from the design committee for taking the lead on this project.

• Lucy Borsenberger has arranged for a tree specialist to treat our trees and for trimming to be done when the weather cools. We are getting bids for adding two pathways from the lower garden area to the street.

• Thanks to Jan Sutton for continuing the research into options for replacing our ovens and the hood in the kitchen. We hope to have this work completed when there is a break in rental activity in December.

• At this time, I would like to present a special “Hard Hat Award” to thank my hard-working team for years of hard work and amazing talent to make our projects a reality. Lora Heramb and Chris Erickson, you are definitely the queen and king of construction. Thank you for coordinating over three years of work to make the air conditioning a reality. In addition to planning and contracting, this project included moving plants, digging trenches, cutting into walls to run conduit, replacing sections of the roof, and bringing in a crane to put the units in place. And all of this work was completed without interrupting any of the scheduled rentals for weddings and events at The Thursday Club. Many thanks to Lora and Chris.
