From the East My Brothers, I say again, WOW! What a month this has been. Unless you have been participating in your lodge events you have really been missing out on a lot of Masonic fun, education, fellowship and otherwise happiness. We are looking forward to our picnic/fund raiser and are in need of items to raffle off. Is there someone out there that could assist in that area? We are asking for all the help we can get at this point. We will also be selling license plate toppers (to be screwed onto your license plate) that have the Masonic square and compasses along with the slogan “Proud to Be a Freemason”. This event is being planned for Sunday the 8th of July and so far we have a DJ set to appear for your pleasure, a BBQ planned, we are trying to get an auction going and would like to have some outdoor games available for adults as well as children (adults in training) to participate in. Please call one of your officers with any valid suggestions. If you could volunteer any goods or services for the auction, that would also be appreciated. As far as pure Masonic activity is concerned, we had a great Grand Lodge communication in Orlando again this year and I was able to witness the complete installation of your Grand Line of officers. As usual, the installation was very well done at became rather emotional on the part of our newly elected Grand Master. He seems as if he is going to be a stickler for ‘proper masonry’. This, I am sure, will promote Masonry in the direction it is supposed to go. Your lodge is doing very well this year as far as bringing in new members is concerned. So well, in fact, that we are having a problem as far as finding qualified instructors is concerned. There is another field that we could use some serious help in. Volunteers anyone?? Fraternally and with brotherly love, Stuart J. Graff Worshipful Master From the West Brothers, July is a month to reflect upon the past six months and plan for the next six months. Another year is passing with many tasks done and still many more to complete, hopefully, before joining the Celestial Lodge.

July 4th is time for Americans to celebrate freedom. I look at the names of the Masons who formed what would be a soon to be great country. Through their thought, foresight and careful use of English they created several documents which became the framework of America. By careful attention to every detail their work has stood the test of time. I often wonder where the great thinkers and inventors have gone. We just don’t seem to have as many who shape the world like these men. Masonic Signers of the Constitution of the United States Abraham Baldwin, Benjamin Franklin, William Paterson, Gunning Bedford Jr., Elbridge Gerry, William Pierce, John Blair, Rufus King, Davie Charles Pinckney, William Blount, John Langdon, Edmund Randolph, David Brearley, John Lansing Jr., George Read, Daniel Carroll, James Mc Henry, Roger Sherman, William Richardson, James Madison, George Walton, Jonathan Dayton, Alexander Martin, George Washington, Oliver Ellsworth, Robert Morris, George Wythe Masonic Signers of the Declaration of Independence Benjamin Franklin, Matthew Thornton, Richard Stockton, William Hooper, William Whipple, George Walton, John Hancock I hope you have a good summer with your family and friends. From the Job’s Jobies Corner – Jobs Daughters meet 1st & 3rd Thursday at 7:00 P.M. Hello everyone, This past month we have been extremely busy. Our Jr. Miss Florida, Erin had the HIKE BBQ. The BBQ generated over $1800 in profits that went directly to the HIKE fund. The total amount raised this year during Erin's term was over $7000. The following weekend we had our ritual competition and Pageant where the new Miss Florida and Jr. Miss Florida was crowned. Amber from Bethel #13 was crowned Miss Florida and I, Amanda was crowned as Jr. Miss Florida. Here we go again.... We look forward to traveling around the state speaking on behalf of Job's Daughters and HIKE. As Miss Florida, Amber will be traveling to Maryland to compete in the Miss International pageant in August. Our Bethel will be hard at work trying to earn money for some of us to accompany her so she will have a support group and cheering section. Looking forward to our next meeting we will be Initiating another new member. We will also be traveling to Grand Chapter and Grand York Rite as well as various lodges thought the area. Masonic Education Brother Anthony A De Angelo, Senior Warden

Meaning of Flag Draped Coffin All Americans should be given this lesson. Those who think that America is an arrogant nation should really reconsider that thought. Our founding fathers used GOD's word and teachings to establish our Great Nation and I think it's high time Americans get re-educated about this Nation's history. Pass it along and be proud of the country we live in and even more proud of those who serve to protect our 'GOD GIVEN' rights and freedoms. _____ I hope you take the time to read this ... To understand what the flag draped coffin really means...Here is how to understand the flag that laid upon it and is surrendered to so many widows and widowers. Do you know that at military funerals, the 21-gun salute stands for the sum of the numbers in the year 1776? Have you ever noticed the honor guard pays meticulous attention to correctly folding the United States of America Flag 13 times? You probably thought it was to symbolize the original 13 colonies, but we learn something new every day! The 1st fold of the flag is a symbol of life. The 2nd fold is a symbol of the belief in eternal life. The 3rd fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veterans departing the ranks who gave a portion of their lives for the defense of the country to attain peace throughout the world. The 4th fold represents the weaker nature, for as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace as well as in time of war for His divine guidance. The 5th fold is a tribute to the country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, 'Our Country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong.' The 6th fold is for where people's hearts lie. It is with their heart that they pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States Of America, and the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all. The 7th fold is a tribute to its Armed Forces, for it is through the Armed Forces that they protect their country and their flag against all her enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of their republic. The 8th fold is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day. The 9th fold is a tribute to womanhood, and Mothers. For it has been through their faith, their love, loyalty and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great has been molded. The 10th fold is a tribute to the father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of their country since they were first born. The 11th fold represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies in the Hebrews eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Trestleboard John Darling Lodge No. 154 F&AM Page 7 of 9 July 2012 WEB EDITION

The 12th fold represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in the Christians eyes, God the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. The 13th fold, or when the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost reminding them of their nations motto, 'In God We Trust.' takes on the appearance of a cocked hat, ever reminding us of the soldiers who served under General George Washington, and the Sailors and Marines who served under Captain John Paul Jones, who were followed by their comrades and shipmates in the Armed Forces of the United States, preserving for them the rights, privileges and freedoms they enjoy today. There are some traditions and ways of doing things that have deep meaning. In the future, you'll see flags folded and now you will know why. Share this with the children you love and all others who love what is referred to, the symbol of ' Liberty and Freedom.' MAYBE THE SUPREME COURT SHOULD READ THIS EXPLANATION BEFORE THEY RENDER THEIR DECISION ON THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. FORWARD IT; MAYBE SOMEONE WITH THE NECESSARY POWER, OR POLITICAL AND FINANCIAL INFLUENCE, WILL GET IT TO THEM. IN THE MEANTIME, MAY GOD PROTECT US ALWAYS. ONE NATION, UNDER GOD, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL. Trestleboard John Darling Lodge No. 154 F&AM Page 8 of 9 July 2012 WEB EDITION
