I will also be able to see Worshipful Don Taylor perform his duties as Grand Tiler one last time. I want to thank Worshipful John Gowen, Worshipful Terry Allison, Steve Bumgarner and Worshipful Mike Young (2014 Hiram Awardee) and his Lady Billi for all of their hard work and assis- tance in executing a spe- cial evening to celebrate Worshipful Don Taylor's retirement. I was unable to attend the event due to surgery, but heard it was an enjoyable and well attended night and most importantly Wor- shipful Taylor approved. Greeting Brethren and Families,

I hope that you have all

enjoyed your summer and that we actually get a change in seasons to en-joy some cooler weather for the rest of the year. I'm looking forward to making the trip with the other pillars up to San Francisco for annual com-munications, to join rep-resentatives from lodge member’s state wide, to ballot on our proposed legislation changes. I'm still getting used to what I view as our biggest change in recent years which is being able to en-joy the company of our Entered Apprentices in our meetings. I will also be able to see Worshipful Don Taylor perform his duties as Grand Tiler one last time. I want to thank Worshipful John Gowen, Worshipful Terry Allison, Steve Bumgarner and Worshipful Mike Young(2014 Hiram Awardee) and his Lady Billi for all of their hard work and assis-tance in executing a spe-cial evening to celebrate Worshipful Don Taylor's retirement. I was unable

to attend the event due to surgery, but heard it was an enjoyable and well attended night and most importantly Wor-shipful Taylor approved.

We currently have no upcoming degrees sched-uled for October, but have brethren working on proficiencies and we have recently given out a few applications to receive the degrees of masonry in our lodge. Well, do you still not believe in global warming? I grew up in San Diego and I have never witness the kind of weather we have had so far in September like we have had this month. Oh sure it would get hot for a week or so in September back in the 60’s and 70’s but never with this kind of humidity. As I write this there is another tropi-cal storm that could turn into a hurricane off the coast of Baja California. Let’s hope “Polo” wants to go to Hawaii for a va-cation and stays out of South-ern California. Coming up the pillars and a past master will be attending the Grand Lodge Communication the second

weekend in October. Please take a moment to review the proposed legislation and let me know what your feelings are. As Senior Warden I am represent-ing Unity lodge and my opinion should fall in line with just that, a representation of what the brethren at Unity want. Natural-ly my own personal opinion will be an influence on how I vote but I do want to represent the lodge as well. You can let me know at the next stated meet-ing or send me an email [email protected] or give me a call at (619) 602-9730. Finally, I still believe we need to provide an incentive to our brothers to take that 4 year journey to the East and I be-

lieve rewarding the Master for his 4 years of dedication to our lodge in the form of a lifetime membership is great way to do it. No one has come to me with a better idea or even a different idea. Please support me on this issue as I plan to put the mo-tion on the floor at the October Stated Meeting. See you then! Sincerely and Fraternally,

Steven H. Bumgarner Senior Warden

to eat? So without further a due, October's stated meeting

will be Mexican food. Enchila-

das, fajitas, rice and beans. After that stated meeting, we

will start getting into the holi-day menus; ham, turkey and

stuffing. I hope you are all looking forward to that, I

know I am.

Fraternally,

Rico Castelo Jr Warden

The summer is ending and the holiday season will soon be

upon us. This years has gone

by quickly for me, I assume it has gone by quickly for many

of you. I hope it has been a good year so far. Next year I

will move into the Senior War-den roll where I will have even

more interactions with the

brethren and there family. I try to keep my articles sim-

ple and short, not because I'm lazy, but because everyone

seems to always have the same

question for me, what is there

From the South...

HAPPY Halloween
