FORESIGHT

This Fall 2011 edition of Insight is the 10th issue of the Hedrick Brothers Construction newsletter. In preparing to write this column, I looked back at the previous nine and reflected on the themes: building quality construction, customer service, investment in our employees, involvement with

our community, health and wellness and teamwork. I realized that all of these combined determines the corporate culture of Hedrick Brothers Construction. Culture is the most powerful factor in an organization, and can be defined as “the collective way we do things around here.” At Hedrick Brothers Construction, it is created as the result of the internal communication and behaviors that tell us what is valued in the company, and leadership needs to be front and center to create a corporate culture that works. Leadership is: attitude, imagination and inspiration ... we all strive to be leaders in business, in the community, and in our daily lives. Leadership is: our project teams being passionate about the buildings they construct, our employees donating their time to professional and non-profit organizations, and our superintendent, Keith Richardson, one of the seven men honored for helping to rescue a woman whose car landed in a canal on I-95.

Hedrick Brothers Construction will celebrate its 33rd anniversary in January, and I can say that the foundation of our corporate culture is unchanged – we remain passionate about building and want our clients to receive uncompromised excellence. A perfect example of the goal of our corporate culture can best be explained by a recent letter we received from one of our clients:

“I’ll try to make this as concise and persuasive as possible. We have never worked with another company, in any capacity - real estate, advertising, law, financial services, publishing - who were as professional, skilled and honest as Hedrick Brothers Construction. If there was any kind of problem - rare - their response was “We’ll get it done.” No excuses. We’ll get it done. The construction job at our home was large and complicated, and they came in on schedule and very close to the budget estimate.”

Hedrick Brothers Construction continues to move forward with a corporate culture focused on giving the best to our clients, our company and our community.

Dale R. Hedrick, LEED AP BC+DPresident
