The value of the month: safety As we say, ‘accidents happen’. We say it because they do. They seem random and unexpected and beyond reason. We’d like to think
that we could fly like Spider-Man or save the world like superman, but the truth is that we would fall apart very quickly if there
werenʹt things around to keep us safe.
Thankfully every day we have things we barely notice to keep us safe: crash barriers, cats eyes in the road, lollipop ladies, zebra
crossings, crash helmets, gloves, fire extinguishers, crash mats, safety catches, child proof caps on medicine, safety nets around the
trampoline. Maybe you can think of other things?
We want you to be safe when you come to school and learn at school which is why safety is the value of the month.
But safety is not just having objects that save us from accidents, itʹs also about us being constantly aware and looking out for one
another. Some accidents don’t just happen, and they don’ t happen because there’s no safety equipment but because of human error.
That’s you and me making mistakes. Ugh. Hence the school does everything it can to make sure everything is safe, but it’s up to you to
play your part and make sure you think before you act.
What might happen if I run when itʹs wiser to walk?
Who could I hurt if I swing on that?
Is it really wise to go out alone and in the dark?
Should I talk to someone online who I don’t know?
Should I eat something when I donʹt know where it has been?
Should I warn someone who may be in danger?
Should I say something if someone is being unkind to me?
Asking these kinds of questions, and coming up with the right answers helps make sure that we don’t become ‘an accident waiting to
happen’ and that we have the maximum chance of making sure the school is a safe place for everybody and all the tools that we have
for safety can come into their own. Accidents may happen, but they needn’t happen at Tadworth Primary, if we all pay a7ention. NP

Staffing News Mrs Boniface, Teaching Assistant in Year 2 (Lions), has decided
after eleven years of working at Tadworth that it is time for a
new challenge. She has secured a job working in the Learning
Resource Centre at NESCOT. We thank her for her commitment
and dedication to the school and wish her, and her family, all the
best for the future. Mrs Boniface’s last day with us will be 27th
November.
We have recently appointed a number of people to our staff
team: Mrs Johnson, who has already started as a Teaching
Assistant in Year 6; Mrs Pinches - who will be starting in
December as a Special Needs Assistant working in Year 3 and
Mrs Thorpe who will be Teaching Assistant in Year 2 (Lions).
Apologies for forge7ing to officially welcome Mrs Komba who
started with us as a midday supervisor last term. We hope they
all enjoy working at our school. JK
Ex Pupil Lewis Maxwell Wins
Pony Club Eridge Hunt Race Lewis—who was in Yr 6 at Tadworth last year—has only
recently taken up horse racing and on 26 October he won the
prize for the 7th race of the day at Lingfield, the Champion
Headwear Novice 148 (for ponies 148cm and under). As well
as winning the race, which was his first competitive entry,
Lewis and his horse, ‘Li7on Lysander’, also won best turned
out horse and best technical rider ,which was just amazing,
as he was the youngest rider in the race and the only jockey
in the race who had not completed a training course at the
British Racing School .

Christmas Card Orders The children’s Christmas Card designs have been sent
home and we hope you like their creations. If you
would like to place an order, the deadline is next
Weds, 11th November to make sure we have the
cards and gifts back in early December.
Each order raises money for the PTA (all of which
goes to benefit the children). A pack of cards raises
£1.40, gift tags 75p and mugs and tea towels raise £2
each.
Cheques are to be made payable to ‘Tadworth
Primary PTA’ and if would be really helpful if you can
put your order form and payment in an envelope, if
possible. Thank you.

Dear Parents
Tadworth Primary School PTA Lottery Are you aware that Tadworth Primary School currently operates a lottery? It’s a great way for parents, relatives or friends to
help raise much needed funds for school projects. For a cost of £1 per month, you will be entered into the draw for a prize of
25% of tickets sold. For example, if we sell 200 tickets the monthly prize would be £50.
Each person entering the lottery will be allocated a number to be entered into the monthly prize. You can purchase as many
numbers as you like giving you a better chance of winning. The more we sell, the greater the prize money and the more money
we will raise towards school funds!
Recently, proceeds from the lottery have contributed towards the new surface around the boat, the trim trail for KS2 and new
toys/equipment for the outside areas in Reception and Year 1. With all the profits from the lottery funds going directly to the
PTA, you will be making a key contribution to future projects.
Joining is simple.....Just fill out the application form below and return it to the Mrs Marshall on the school reception along with payment. You can pay cash or cheque for one years worth of tickets at a cost of £12 or you can pay monthly by bank standing order on request. On receipt of your application and payment, I will allocate your number(s) and confirm these in writing. Your number(s) will then be entered into the next monthly draw.
If you need further information you can contact me by email on: [email protected]
Very many thanks for your support.
