Welcome to the

April edition of

‘The Viewer’

Well, Spring is here! We have

already seen some beautiful

sunny days and now with the

longer evenings and the

prediction of a hot summer on its

way, we can look forward to a

summer full of picnics and BBQs

that didn’t quite materialise last

year. Yes, I can only but dream!!!

As I’m sitting here writing this

column waiting to here what our

chancellor is going to offer us on

this very important Budget Day.

I’m hoping he hasn’t forgotten the

small businesses struggling to keep

their head above water. However,

we can all support each other by

using our Local Services and

Trades. There’s a wide range of

local services in the magazine, so

please use them when possible or

if you are looking for a trades-

person whether it be a plumber,

builder, electrician etc. we have

our local trades pages on hand to

help (pages 27 to 31). Finally, I hope you all have a

bright and sunny Easter weekend

and a great month!

Until next time.

Local runner ‘Monkeys around’

for charity…

Once you’ve taken part in numerous charity events, it gets harder and harder to get sponsorship from people. Local runner David Bond has come up with an idea which he hopes will get him the much needed cash for his chosen charity.

David has pledged that if he reaches his target of £1,500 - he will run the 2012 Virgin London Marathon dressed up as a monkey.

On Sunday 22nd April, David hopes to be monkeying around in aid of Phabkids! - a charity that aims to promote & encourage people with and without physical disabilities to come together on equal terms. All money raised will go towards supporting a network of over 200 clubs. Phab clubs provide valuable support for families, and carers helping them overcome feelings of isolation.

Stanground based David explained “I hope people appreciate how much tougher the run will be in this suit and that they’ll help me support this great charity. I am looking forward to entertaining the crowds, but like I said, only if I reach my target of £1500”.

If you would like to support David and his

cause, you can visit his fundraising account:

davidbond

For more details, please contact David Bond on 07715313150 or email [email protected] More about Phabkids!:

Phab is a national charity dedicated to the integration of people with and without physical disabilities in the community. With Lord Snowdon as Patron, Ed Stewart as President and Rolf Harris and Sir Cliff Richard as Vice Presidents, Phab has provided support and services for its members since 1957, enabling disabled people to enjoy the

same opportunities and challenges as able-bodied and bring them together on equal terms.

Phab has a network of around 200 integrated junior, youth and adult clubs throughout England. Activities range from sailing and orienteering to theatre visits and quiz evenings. By meeting on equal terms, members appreciate and respect one another as individuals, irrespective of any differences or disabilities.

The objects and the aims of the Phab organisation have remained the same for 50 years; they are probably more relevant today than at any time in its existence. The Charity's long-held philosophy of bringing together people with and without physical disabilities on equal terms bears remarkable similarity of aim to the new promotion of social inclusion.

Although much has been achieved for disabled people since the 'Year of the Dis-abled' in 1981, there is still a long way to go before they are fully integrated within our society. Phab's aim is to do just that.

Nene Park Academy looks

forward to its state of the art

new buildings.

S tudents and staff at Nene Park Academy on Oundle Road are looking forward to having their

school rebuilt over the next eighteen months. Contractors started on site in February and will hand over phase 1 of the project for September 2012, with completion of the £14.25 million project for September 2013.

Since opening in September, Nene Park Academy has seen a rapid improvement in standards and achievements supported through its partnership with Swavesey Village College as well as the local community partnerships that it has developed especially with the Nene Park Trust and PUFC.

The philosophy of the academy is simple: every student is known and supported as an individual to achieve the very best they can, both academically and personally. The House system that underpins this com-mitment reflects the structure at the Acad-emy’s partner school in Cambridgeshire.

Mark Woods, Principal at Nene Park Academy and formerly Vice Principal at Swavesey, is delighted with the progress of the new build. ‘It has been really exciting to design the new school to reflect and

support the House system that we developed at Swavesey and have now introduced at NPA. ’

‘Our motto is ‘High quality education at the heart of the community’ and the new school buildings will provide students and the wider community with state of the art facilities: a school – a community and buildings – to be proud of.’

Plans for the new building can be seen on the Academy’s website (www.neneparkacademy.org) but Mr Woods is keen to emphasise ‘We welcome people to come and look around the school now because great schools are not about buildings but about the positive relationships that you will see between students and staff that create excellent opportunities for students and lead to great results.’

LAWN CARE IN SPRING

Moss has been a real threat to lawns this

year, and may be affecting your lawn.

Apply a specific moss treatment now, or get

ProLawnCare to spray with their special

Moss Control Treatment. Moss dies in front of your eyes. It is best to do it now before the

spring starts.

Fertiliser This is the time to feed and weed (preferably in that order). The fertiliser is predominately Nitro-gen in a slow release form, but it may also

need Phosphate and Potassium as well as vital trace elements.

Weed Control Once the weeds and grass are actively growing a selective herbicide to kill broad leaved weeds such as dandelions, daisies & clover within the grass can be applied.

Actions required in Early Spring

• Mow lawn lightly when dry enough. • Treat Moss • Apply Spring Feed • Spray weeds in lawn with Selective Herbicide

Some of the above tasks can be carried out by the lawn owner, other tasks may need some professional intervention.

Monthly Tips for your Pet Quick Guide for

New Puppy & Kitten Owners

W hilst bringing a new puppy or kitten home is a wonderfully exciting time for

new pet owners, we also know that it can be quite daunting. So here is a quick guide to some of the basics, however please feel free to pop in and speak to us at any time.

Play & Discipline

The best toys are interactive, stimulating and appropriately sized (no small parts that can be swallowed and scratching posts should allow a full grown cat to scratch at a complete stretch).

Disciplining may be necessary if behaviour threatens people or property, but harsh punishment should be avoided. Remote punishment is preferred because the pet associates punishment with the undesirable act, not with you and consists of using something that appears unconnected to the punisher. Use spray bottles, throw objects in the direction of the pet to startle (but not hit) it, or make loud noises.

Food

Diet is extremely important in the growing months of a pets life and beyond. Dry food is definitely less expensive than wet, especially given that wet contains around 75% water, compared to only 10% in dried food. Wet food is often more tasty to pets, however will not be as good for maintaining a healthy mouth and teeth and is unlikely to be more nutritious than a good quality dry food - which will also have less undigested particles and so less physical waste (faeces).

Vaccinations

Puppies and kittens should both ideally have a full course of vaccinations between 6-12 weeks, which is two injections several weeks apart. After this they will require a booster every 12 months for the rest of their life to keep their immunity up.

Fleas & Worms

Ideally you should treat your pet with a preventative flea treatment every month throughout the year. The choices available

are vast, many are not suitable for use on puppies, different types vary in cover (just killing fleas, stopping their lifecycle etc…) as well as their protection against other parasites. We would be happy to advise you on this to ensure you make an appropriate choice for the size and lifestyle of your pet.

Worming should be done more frequently during the first few months and at a weight appropriate dose for their growing size. Below is a standard guide, however house cats and hunting pets may need a different approach for their adult lifestyle. Puppies: every two weeks from 2-12 weeks old, then every three months. Kittens: every two weeks from 6-12 weeks old, then every three months.

Microchipping

Microchips are the best way of identifying and contacting the rightful owner of a pet should it get lost or be stolen. The microchips we use are the size of a grain of rice and are not made from glass, making them shatter-proof so they will last a lifetime. They are inserted in the scruff of the neck by injection and no anaesthetic is required.

Neutering

Once your puppy is 6 months old, you should consider getting him or her neutered for preventative health care reasons as detailed below. Both operations are done under general anaesthetic and require a days stay at the vets, however they are normally allowed home that evening and are fully recovered from the operation within about two weeks.

T hat perfect shade of red lipstick, easy

to apply liner and super-lengthening

mascara might do its job expertly, but

if it’s been hanging around for months, it may be threatening your health. Although your cosmetics look innocent

enough, after being opened they offer a

perfect breeding ground for bacteria. And

over time, you can end up suffering from

some seriously nasty eye infections, skin

irritations and blemishes, all because your

products are long past their best.

Not all manufacturers place ‘use by’ guide-

lines on their make-up, so it can be hard to

know what is an acceptable amount of

time to keep your beauty buys for.

So we have compiled a guide to give you

the low down on when is the right time to say goodbye to your trusty old product.

Mascara: Buy a new one at least every

three or four months. Changes in texture

and smell can indicate that it’s past its

best. If you’ve had an eye infection, then

discard the mascara you were using when it started and invest in a new one to avoid

re-infection.

Pencil Eyeliner: They are fine to use until

you need to replace them, as the tip that is

in contact with the eye is constantly being

sharpened and therefore kept fairly clean -

just make sure you always cover the tip

with the protective lid.

Liquid Eyeliner: Should be treated the

same as mascara and replaced every three to four months. As with all eye make-

up, never be tempted to share yours or

borrow someone else’s - it’s the fastest way

to spread an eye infection.

Eye Shadow: Fine for a few years as long

as they are stored properly in their original

container. Make sure you replace the

applicators regularly though and, as with all eye make-up, if you suffer with an eye

infection at any point, always replace

everything you were using at the time.

Foundation: Generally safe to use for

around twelve months, foundations should

be kept away from direct sunlight or

intense heat to ensure a long lifespan. If

you use a foundation brush or sponge to apply your make-up, clean them

thoroughly on a regular basis.

Powder Blusher: Safe to use for a few

years as bacteria can’t breed easily in the

dry formula, though applicators should be

kept clean - washing every few weeks is essential.

Lipstick: They should really be replaced

after a year as they are in constant

contact with your mouth. Be aware of

changes in smell and texture to determine

if it’s time you should be looking for a new

one.

Moisturiser: Aim to discard moisturisers

after six months. Changes in smell and consistency indicate that the product has

reached its ‘use by’ date.

Sunscreen: Aim to purchase brand new

sunscreen every year, as the ingredients

that protect you from damaging UV rays

can become less potent over time.

Nail Varnish: Usually varnish will last for a

good twelve months. If after shaking you

aren’t able to mix it together, then it’s a

sure sign it is ready to be thrown away.

Motoring

R oad safety organisations have said forcing elderly drivers to retake their test when they reach a certain age is not the best way to improve road

safety. There has been a recent spate of accidents

involving older drivers who police have claimed were not fit to hold a licence.

One accident saw a 16-year-old girl killed by an 87-year-old driver who swerved onto the pavement in Colchester, Essex crushing the girl against a wall. Police had asked the driver to give up his licence three days before the fatal crash after he was involved in a separate crash, an inquest heard.

However, road safety groups have told us that they think incidents involving elderly drivers are more widely reported in the press – heightening the public’s negative perception of older drivers.

“Older drivers do of course make mistakes as we all do, said Adrian Walsh, director of charity RoadSafe. “There is evidence to show that risk increases as drivers get older, but the type of error is quite different from young drivers – most of them are to do with errors of judgement rather than breaches of the law & most are ‘lapses’. One thing is clear - older drivers take less risks.”

Andrew Howard, head of road safety at The AA, agreed, adding: “It is very difficult to base decisions about older drivers on the more outrageous accidents that they have. After all we don’t base our rules on all young drivers around those who pinch cars, speed or drive stupidly to impress their friends.

“By and large, most older drivers are safe drivers. Risk curves fall from teenage to late 40s and only really begin to turn up again by late 60s/early 70s and sharply by 80s. Even then they struggle to have a risk level challenging the youngest (and fittest) drivers.”

Howard added that stopping older people driving would have immense costs too – both personally and to the economy as other forms of transport would have to be funded.

The Institute of Advanced Motorists said they think older drivers get an “unfair press”.

“In terms of the number of crashes they have they are one of the safest groups on the road and far safer than young drivers between the ages of 17-24”, said the IAM’s Neil Greig.

“When an older driver knocks down

a pedestrian or drives the wrong way up a dual carriageway they get banner headlines and calls for tough re-tests. The vast majority of older drivers are responsible adults who know their weaknesses and change their driving to cope with them.”

The IAM wants to see voluntary assessments made widely a v a i l a b l e , s u c h a s i t s DriveCheck55, where drivers can refresh their skills, discuss the high risk factors & get an independent assessment without fear of losing their licence.

Meanwhile, Professor Stephen Glaister, director of the RAC Foundation, said there is no evidence older drivers have more accidents. “In fact their safety record is better than that of many young drivers - but their frailty means that when they are involved in collisions they are more likely to be killed or seriously injured,” he explained.

“Rather than introducing com-pulsory re-testing for older drivers, we would like to see the greater promotion of voluntary refresher courses. Insurance policies which offer discounts to older drivers who do not drive at the riskiest times – such as at night – & on the most dangerous roads would also help.”

Leaving your car in Showroom Condition

The Professional Mobile Car Valeting

I recently challenged Tommy Liddar from Mister Car-Shine to make my Car Shine. I didn’t think it was possible, as it was in a

terrible state, it hadn’t been cleaned for a little while.

Tommy took the challenge and came along to my home and started the clean-up. The full valet took approx. 3 hours and included a waterless hand-wash, wax and polish. All carpets, mats and seats were vacuumed and deep cleaned including the boot. Door shunts, windows, trims, dashboards, bumpers, mirrors and door panels were cleaned and polished and all wheels & tyres cleaned & dressed. Finally, the interior was deodorised with a special deodorising machine killing 99% of germs and bacteria such as e-coli, MRSA, etc., eliminating all smells like tobacco, damp,

mould and even pet smells, leaving the whole car smelling fresh & spotless, inside and out, looking in Showroom Condition.

Tommy is very conscience of being environmentally friendly. He uses a water-less car wash and also the polish used is water repellent and gives a long lasting deep gloss shine meaning less washes and saving you money at the same time.

Full Valet for only £29.95 - takes approx. 3 / 4 hours Mini Valet for only £14.95 - takes approx. 1.5 / 2 hours

The cost for this immaculate clean is very reasonable considering the time and effort involved.

The last time my car looked and smelt as clean and shiny, was 3 years ago when I picked it up from the garage from new!

HUMOUR

I s it just me who's not really that bothered about the Olympics?

It can't just be me. There must be others. Other people who think that spending the best part of a grand (the top asking price for a ticket to the men's 100-metre final) on precisely 9.36 seconds of entertainment is a little bit barmy; other people who are wondering what we're going to do with all the empty stadiums; fellow Londoners, perhaps, who aren't relishing the prospect of an extra hundred bajillion people being pumped into our famously crowded capital (trust me, I've been to the Jamie Oliver shop on a Saturday afternoon and that place is murder already). Admittedly it's important that somebody enjoys all the shiny new facilities that my inflated council tax has been paying for over the last five years, but still.

I know what you're thinking - if the second round of the women's equestrian dressage tournament doesn't fill you with excitement, just ignore it. Let it pass you by. But I can't, you see, because something about the whole crazy spectacle is really bugging me.

The London 2012 Olympic Games are being sponsored by McDonalds.

McDONALDS!!!

Now I love a Big Mac as much as the next man, don't get me wrong. But do I think it's a smart idea for the world's most high-profile sporting event to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with a fast-food conglomerate? (For any body still not quite sure, by the way, the answer is no.) I'd be genuinely intrigued to read the project folder on this one. Somebody, somewhere, came up with this notion and spent some considerable time (not to mention taxpayers' money) making it happen. Worse, a whole host of other people on whichever board it was, chose not to stop them doing it. But come on, folks. The Olympic Games - the most ancient ritual in the sporting calendar, a towering testament to mankind's extra- ordinary physical prowess - sponsored by

cheeseburgers? Is there anyone else out there who thinks that's barking mad?

Curious to discover whether, in an effort to temper its bizarre championing of junk food, London 2012 is also aligning itself with one or two more wholesome brands (milk, perhaps, or at the very least Evian), I visited the official website and nearly fell off my chair. There, sitting innocently underneath those famous golden arches, I found Coca-Cola… and Cadbury's! Apparently not content with extolling the obvious nutritional virtue of the Chicken Legend, it seems the Olympic committee has gone the whole hog and attached itself to fizzy drinks and chocolate as well. So there you have it. The holy trinity of heart disease.

Once upon a time, a story like this would have belonged in the You-Won't-Believe-What-Those-Crazy-Americans-Have-Done-Now file. So are we really going to stand for this, Britain? Because if we let this one slip by unchallenged, what's coming next? Greenpeace, sponsored by The National Rifle Association? The UK Heart & Lung Institute, brought to you today by Benson & Hedges?

Or maybe I'm overreacting. I mean, obesity isn't particularly a problem amongst young people today, right, so why get so worked up? So what if we're effectively telling kids that Usain Bolt would never have got where he is today without his patented Big Mac & Fries McDiet? They'll see through it… right?

T he changes to life that retirement brings can

be quite a shock, even if you have been look-

ing forward to it. Losing the focus of going to

work each day can be hard and it is easy to slip into

a sedentary lifestyle. But research shows that those

who keep active both physically and mentally enjoy

a healthier later life. So what can you do?

The benefits of activity Regular exercise has a huge number of benefits: it

strengthens your muscles, aiding mobility and

reducing the risk of falls and conditions such as high

blood pressure, heart disease and osteoporosis

(brittle bones). It also helps to reduce the risk of

other conditions, such as diabetes and stroke. It

improves coordination and balance and encourages

a healthy appetite, regular bowel movements and

means you are more likely to sleep well at night. It

also stimulates the brain, so that you're less likely

to suffer from stress or depression.

Small amounts of regular exercise or activity is

better for you than a big burst of energy one day

and then nothing for the rest of the week. And

exercise doesn't have to mean going to the gym -

there is plenty you can do at home & while you're

out and about to keep active.

At home you can tackle the garden - just a little

weeding or pruning is using your muscles and

keeping them flexible; and even housework is great

for strengthening muscles. Try an exercise DVD at

home - and ask a friend to join you to make it more

fun. Walk as much as you can each day - to the

local shops or library and take up some social

activities that will encourage you to meet other

people as well as exercise, such as dance or arts &

craft classes; or keep fit for the over 50s. And, if

you have lots of energy, you could even try Zumba,

which is fast-paced and fun. All these activities will

keep your muscles moving and supple.

Age UK (formerly Age Concern) has a nationwide

programme, Fit as a Fiddle, which supports people

over 50 with physical activity, healthy eating and

mental wellbeing. Find out more at

www.fitasafiddle.org.uk

Keeping mentally stimulated Studies show that the more you use your brain the

more mentally active you'll remain. As well as

slowing down memory loss (although you're still

likely to forget things!), you can also reduce the

chances of conditions such as Alzheimer's. As with

physical exercise, keeping mentally active can also

help to reduce stress and depression.

There are many activities that can help to keep your

brain mentally agile. At home you can tackle cross-

word puzzles, Sudoku or chess. Maybe now is the

time to start reading all those books you never had

time for when you were working? It is also possible

to 'train' your mind by using trigger words to jog

your memory. Using sticky notes on the fridge will

help to remind you of what you need to do that day.

Joining groups with common interests will

encourage you to meet and interact with new

people as well as keeping your mind occupied. Try

bingo; learn a new language or how to use a c

omputer; or enrol on a cookery course.

Your local council or library will have information on

classes and activities for older people - just take

your pick! www.ageuk.org.uk

LONDON ROAD,

HEMPSTED

T he developers of the new Hempsted Shopping Centre on London Road have recently confirmed that

contractors are now appointed and due on site shortly to begin construction. The scheme will provide just over 10,800 sq ft of retail space with a minimum of 7 shop units, along with 14 residential apartments above. Terms have already been agreed with Tesco Express who will operate a 4,000 sq ft convenience store. Another unit will be occupied by

a Barnardo’s charity shop.

Charles Trafford of joint letting agents

Trafford Oliver commented: ‘Admittedly there has been a delay caused in the main by the cost of the building coming in above budget. My client has been able to identify some savings with the contractor and everyone is now committed to moving forward and getting the development underway.’

As part of the re-launching of the ma r k e t i n g campa i gn , S a v i l l s Peterborough office has been brought in to act jointly in the letting of the remaining retail units.

Erica Lewis of Savills said: ‘We are delighted to have been

appointed joint agents on the scheme and we are keen to speak to any local businesses who may be interested in taking a shop within the development’.

ARIES MARCH 21 - APRIL 20

Your ruling planet, the energetic Mars, is

moving forward again, as from the 14th

you’ll notice your plans picking up the

pace again. During the last few months

you will have often felt hesitant about taking action –

most unusual for Aries! Enthusiasm and assertive-

ness return now, enjoy!

TAURUS APRIL 21 - MAY 21

The love planet Venus and abundant

Jupiter start the month in your sign and

you should still be reaping the rewards

of your past efforts. Venus moves into

Gemini on the 4th and then the pace changes.

Feeling rather restless, you’ll be questioning your

social life and your relationships.

GEMINI MAY 22 - JUNE 21 The love planet Venus moves into your

sign on the 4th

and your ruler, the planet

Mercury, changes sign on the 17th

. April is

an interesting and rather turbulent month

and you’ll need to channel and focus your energies

wisely. Your mind may be especially inquisitive dur-

ing this cycle.

CANCER JUNE 22 - JULY 22 The Libra full moon on the 6

th falls in the

domestic area of your chart; your thoughts

turn to family, loved ones and personal

matters. Your living space is also in the

spotlight and home improvements will be high on

your agenda. With Mars gathering speed conversa-

tion is energetic and plentiful.

LEO JULY 23 - AUGUST 23 Friendly and outgoing Venus in Gemini

puts the spotlight on your friends and

social life this month. Energetic Mars in

hard working Virgo gathers momentum

after the 14th

in the monetary area of your chart.

Some financial reviewing and reorganisation may

become necessary now.

VIRGO AUG. 24 - SEPT. 22

After the 14th

you’ll feel as if a great

weight has been lifted from your shoul-

ders. Mars, planet of action & assertiveness

has been slowing you down since January,

but now you can get going again! Plans & dreams can

start moving & you’ll intuitively know where to begin.

LIBRA SEPT. 23 - OCT. 23 Mars retrograde has not been easy for

Libra and its forward motion on the 14th

will be a great relief. You will have

reassessed your goals and your needs

and start to have a clear plan of action now. The full

moon on the 6th

will challenge you to be direct and

straightforward with others.

SCORPIO OCT. 24 - NOV. 22

Your social life may have been on hold

over the last few months, confidence

may not have been high & you probably

preferred to lay low. It’s all changing

now as Mars gathers speed and challenges you get

out there and have fun. Venus in Gemini brings

finances to the forefront.

SAGITTARIUS NOV. 23 - DEC. 21 Delays and setbacks at work and in your

career may have been a problem since

the end of January. That is all changing

now as energetic Mars starts to move

forward in a pivotal part of your chart. The cosmos

is asking you to reach for the stars and not to doubt

yourself in any way.

CAPRICORN DEC. 22 - JAN. 20

Mars retrograde in Virgo may have

demanded that you review and reassess

many areas of your life. Rather than

asserting your desires you may have

tended towards introspection. Now you can get

back to being straightforward, assertive and

courageous – with good results!

AQUARIUS JAN. 21 - FEB. 18

Since idealistic Neptune left your sign in

February your life has probably become

much clearer and your goals and future

plans are much more apparent. Your

ruler, the quirky Uranus, marches forward in

pioneering Aries & your ideas should be abundant

& openly creative.

PISCES FEB. 19 – MARCH 20

Communicative Mercury, retrograde in

your sign, will up the pace as forward

motion starts on the 4th

. Moving into

energetic Aries on the 17th

you’ll find

ideas and plans will really get going. You can now

enjoy increased powers of concentration and lively

discussion will come your way.

T he much celebrated annual Dragon

Boat Festival returns to the Embankment

in Peterborough on Saturday 16th June

2012 and organisers, Gable Events, have

introduced a number of exciting changes

designed to make it easier for local

companies, clubs and groups of friends to

get a team together and be part of it!

These include smaller boats/team sizes, reduced entry fees and multiple crew discounts for those wishing to enter more than one team. The Festival will also be taking place on a Saturday for the first time.

To take part in this hugely popular event, all you need to do is raise a team of up to 11 people (squads can be larger) and you will be ready to ‘race the dragon’! All the dragon boats, qualified helms and racing equipment are provided, each team gets a minimum of three races and no previous experience is necessary, just plenty of team spirit and enthusiasm!

Now in its 14th spectacular year, around half the teams that enter the Festival each year are new. The beauty of dragon boat racing is that you don’t need the physical strength of a Steve Redgrave or the athletic prowess of a Jessica Ennis to be successful as it is teamwork and timing that win the day.

James Hallatt entered a team from Ecolutia Services based in Werrington for the first time last year and they very nearly won! He comments; “It was a superb day out for all of our team, their families and supporters.

Most of our team had their children,

husbands, wives and girlfriends with them

and it was fun for everyone. We are looking

forward to improving on our third place

position in 2012!

All the teams that enter are encouraged to raise sponsorship for the Festival charity, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice, or the charity of their choice and there is a prize meal at The Grain Barge floating Peking restaurant for the team that raises the most! With awards also for second and third place, the ‘best dressed’ and the top mixed crew, there is a prize for every team to aim for!

The Festival is supported by Peterborough City Council, The Evening Telegraph and Heart 102.7 and offers a full day of fun on land as well as water with plenty of activities on the bankside to entertain teams and spectators between races.

To make sure your team is on the start line in

June, call Gable Events on 01780 470718 or visit
