Happy Father’s Day!
I’ve heard women have a tendancy tomarry or choose significant others whoare like their fathers. While I compare myown and see many differences, the simil-iarities are the very good traits. Both arehard workers and good providers for their
family. Both would givethe shirt off their backs toanother in need. Whencalled and asked to go help, car keys are grabbed and theygo the extra mile, leavingchores or the “honey-do list”
behind.
My father didn’t send me to church onSundays. He took me. We prayed before we ateand before we went to bed. We learned by hisexample to save money for a rainy day. Today Iwatch our three sons as they carry on traditionsthey learned by their father’s example. I’ve seenevery one of them jump out of the car withoutbeing prompted to help an elderly person loadtheir vehicle with their packages at the grocerystore or pump gas, wash the windshield orcheck oil at a gas station. It is a natural forthem to hold doors open for others to passthrough.
I’m proud of my boys as they have nowbecome fathers, instilling the traditions theydeem important in their children. This month, include your father in your plans for places togo, things to do or people to see listed in thisissue and wish him a very special HappyFather’s Day!
Until next month...Kathy Barnett, editor
