8 Interesting Facts About Independence Day• The first Independence Day celebration took place in
Philadelphia on July 8, 1776. This was also the day that theDeclaration of Independence was first read in public after peo-ple were summoned by the ringing of the Liberty Bell.
• The Declaration of Independence was first presented toCongress on June 28, 1776, after more than a year of trying toappeal the practice of taxation by England without representa-tion in the English Parliament.
• Originally, the stars on the flag were arranged in a circle todenote the equality of all the colonies.
• Thomas Jefferson died on the 50th anniversary of theDeclaration of Independence. So did John Adams who alsosigned the Declaration.
• Only John Hancock actually signed the Declaration ofIndependence on July 4, 1776. All the others signed later.
• The White House held its first 4th of July party in 1801.• Barbecue is big on Independence Day, with more than 74
million Americans planning one.• July 4th became a national holiday in 1941.I would like to wish you a happy and safe Independence

In its 48th year, The Marshall County BlueberryFestival is a Labor Day weekend tradition with livemusic, good food, a carnival, parade, fireworks andmore n Plymouth, Indiana. This year’s schedule isAug 29 through Sept. 1
Most of the activities will be at Centennial Parkincluding arts and crafts, vendors, hot air balloonlaunch, helicopter rides, and a car show and swapmeet. Kicking off the lineup of musical entertain-ment is country duo Montgomery Gentry Friday at8 p.m. Advance tickets are now for sale. Prices rangefrom general admission on the lawn, $30, to PIT infront of the stae, $40.
Special guest Frankie Ballard will open forMontgomery Gentry. When the two Kentuckyboys—Eddie, is from Lancaster and Troy is from
Lexington—first burst onto the national scene in1999 with the defiant “Hillbilly Shoes” notice wasserved—country music had never seen a hard driv-ing duo like this. The duo has 14 Top 10 singles,including five No. 1s, “Something To Be Proud Of,”“If You Ever Stop Loving Me,” Lucky Man,” “BackWhen I Knew It All” and “Roll With Me.”

INDIANAPOLIS – The 75-year-old Fairgrounds Coliseum hasreopened for business and will bethe center of attention in Augustas the Indiana State Fair hasdeclared 2014 the “Year of theColiseum.”
The renovated Coliseum, whichhas been closed since October,2012 to undergo a $63 million ren-ovation, will host Draft horsecompetitions, livestock shows, theChampion Drive, CelebrationAwards and a full line-up ofheadline concerts during the fair,Aug. 1 – 17.
The Indiana State Fair’s newlyrenovated Coliseum will host sixmusical performances and onecomedian in its return as the fair’sheadline concert venue for thefirst time since 1985. The renova-tion has transformed the buildinginto a modern entertainment facil-ity like few others in the country.The Coliseum Concert Series,which runs July 31 through Aug.17, includes:
