Some will work on vines on the slope; others will work further down along trail or in the woods; Larry may bring his saw. If it’s too wet, we’ll move to a drier location. 7:00-Music Concert-Auditorium Saturday Night Concert: Please note that
the concert is on SATURDAY NIGHT… We are pleased to have for the first
time at Collington, the Matt Daniels Band. This band is coming to us from
New York City. We hope to have a full audience to begin the New Year. Have
dinner and then head to the auditorium at 7:00 and enjoy the Matt Daniels
Band.

SPEAKERS COMMITTEE, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 8, 7:00 PM –
AUDITORIUM: Bob Levey, prize winning journalist, will speak on “The
Golden Era at The Washington Post.” In a 36-year career at the Post,
Levey covered Presidential politics, Congress, local news, and sports. For
23 years he wrote a daily column, “Bob Levery’s Washington,” for which he
was seven times named one of the most popular columnists in Washington
by the Washingtonian magazine. In his talk, he will remember such Post
luminaries as Ben Bradlee, Woodward and Bernstein and Katharine
Graham as well as his own career. He will also talk about his new novel,
Larry Felder, Candidate, which will be available for purchase/signing.

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES
The Long View: A Portrait of Ruth Bader Ginsburg song cycle
performance. Tuesday, January 14th, 2:00 p.m., Auditorium. In this
song cycle for soprano and piano, we can perceive the character,
scholarship, and intellect of pop culture icon, Supreme Court Justice Ruth
Bader Ginsburg (RBG). This cycle is a collection of narratives, advice, and
anecdotes revolving around the “demure and unassuming” figure of RBG.
This recital will begin with a brief overview of the musical motives
incorporated into the song cycle, which help paint this "portrait" of the
Notorious RBG.
BINGO PLAYERS- ATTENTION ! Because of New Year’s Day, there will
be only one Bingo game in January. It will be on Wednesday, January 15th

COLLINGTON SINGERS Spring Season rehearsals begin January 20,
2020 in the auditorium. If you're new to Collington and want to join, come to
this rehearsal. The Small Group (auditioned) begins January 23, 2020. The

Deer Hunting- Deer management is scheduled for Wednesday, Friday,
Saturday, Residents may see the bow-hunters on campus on the way in
and out of the woods. Residents are asked to stay within 50 yards of the
trails.
Pool work – The pool concrete floor has been power washed and we have
done some repairs and painting on the walls and doors. We are reviewing
the area and plan to make some other minor improvements in the weeks to
come.

We are excited to announce that the Director of Nursing candidate has
been selected and has accepted the position offer. More information to
come as her arrival date nears but we are anticipating her joining the
Collington team in mid-January 2020.
After Friday January 3rd to ensure a smooth transition of the position, after
January 3rd please send any requests for Medical Records to either Megan
Barbour, Chief Operating Officer, or Yassin Girran, Director of Nursing, to
coordinate appropriately.
MedStar Center for Successful Aging at Collington Outpatient Clinic
Reminder that during the hours the clinic is open and a physician is not
available, registrars can assist with scheduling appointments and the clinic
is open for bloodwork and vitals.
The clinic will return to normal operation hours beginning the week of
January 6, 2020.
