July Sparked Summer Themes at Club Journey The Fourth of July kicked off a series of refreshing summertime themes at Club Journey When Volunteer Coordinator Candace Groberman organized a lively American History trivia game activity for Club Journey's Fourth of July theme, the patriotic decor and activity sparked ideas for more fun summertime themes throughout the month. Why not stay cool and enjoy memorable summer days together? We had our very own "ACV Jazz Trio" with local musician David Link on the electronic wind instrument (EWI), his friend Alex Czeny on the keyboard, and Dom Calvano on drums bringing jazz and pop faves to our CJ members. Hey, we were singing along and even dancing in the aisles! (See Marylou and Greg kickin' it up). We gotta bring the band back soon! We celebrated Moon Day, the 50th anniversary of Landing on the Moon with "Moon Trivia" and a fun paint day with acrylics, all organized by activities volunteer Susan Maderick. We had "moon pies" ice cream for dessert. A "Day at the Beach" featured hot dogs, potato salad, cole slaw and frozen popcicles served on beach towels strewn with sea shells. There were sand bag, beach ball toss games along with dominoes and board games. Beach Boy tunes provided another nostalgic dimension. A Hawaiian Luau theme was an easy one to embellish with leis, grass skirts, hibiscus flowers and decor from Judy Rhodes' and Susan's collections. A delicious luncheon of fried chicken, fruit salad, sandwiches and freshly blended mock Pina Coladas topped it off. Can't wait to see what August brings to Club Journey!
