July Sparked Summer Themes at Club JourneyThe Fourth of July kicked off a series ofrefreshing summertime themes at ClubJourney

When Volunteer Coordinator CandaceGroberman organized a lively AmericanHistory trivia game activity for Club Journey'sFourth of July theme, the patriotic decor andactivity sparked ideas for more fun summertimethemes throughout the month.

Why not stay cool and enjoy memorablesummer days together?

We had our very own "ACV Jazz Trio" withlocal musician David Link on the electronicwind instrument (EWI), his friend Alex Czenyon the keyboard, and Dom Calvano on drumsbringing jazz and pop faves to our CJ members.Hey, we were singing along and even dancingin the aisles! (See Marylou and Greg kickin' itup). We gotta bring the band back soon!

We celebrated Moon Day, the 50th anniversaryof Landing on the Moon with "Moon Trivia" anda fun paint day with acrylics, all organized byactivities volunteer Susan Maderick. We had"moon pies" ice cream for dessert.

A "Day at the Beach" featured hot dogs,potato salad, cole slaw and frozen popciclesserved on beach towels strewn with sea shells.There were sand bag, beach ball toss gamesalong with dominoes and board games. BeachBoy tunes provided another nostalgicdimension.

A Hawaiian Luau theme was an easy one toembellish with leis, grass skirts, hibiscus flowersand decor from Judy Rhodes' and Susan'scollections. A delicious luncheon of friedchicken, fruit salad, sandwiches and freshlyblended mock Pina Coladas topped it off.

ACV Dementia TrainingCertification

Each month our Dementia TrainingClasses, attended by some 30students, are held the last Thursdayof each month, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Professional CNA & HHA caregiverscan earn Continuing Education Units,one unit per each hour-long class.Classes are free and advancesignups are required.
