From The East,
Brethren,
Thank you for the continued confidence you have placed in me to lead Theodore Breck
Lodge for the ensuing year. It is indeed an honor and a pleasure. It has and will be a hum-
bling experience.
In December 2013, as I assumed the Oriental Chair for the first time, I commented about
the ever increasing weight of this jeweled collar that we wear. Whether they are cloth or
adorned with metal, the weight of the collar increases exponentially with the understand-
ing of your responsibility to the members of the lodge and the fraternity. It matters not
how many times you undertake the responsibility of serving the lodge or in what capacity,
only that you serve and do the best you can. Paraphrased from one of the lectures, with
experience, one improves.
Serving as Senior Warden in 2018, supporting W. Bro. Chris Harding and now succeeding
him as Master of the Lodge is the fulfillment of events that started in 1981 when I was
raised a Master Mason and immediately appointed to Senior Steward. I was a junior of-
ficer behind then Bro. Chris Harding in the progressive line at Ellbrook Lodge #634. After
advancing in line and serving as Senior Deacon, I had to step out of line as I was starting
graduate engineering school. So 30+ years later, that journey comes full circle.
This year will be a busy year. We are blessed with men having an interest in the Fraterni-
ty and will be starting their degrees. We are revitalizing and reprioritizing education.
We are planning speakers and special events. During our awards night, where we recog-
nize service to the fraternity, we will be recognizing 50, 60 & 70 year Masons.
I would like to personally thank W. Bro. Chris Harding who provided this opportunity to
serve again, completing that journey started so long ago and to my friend and our Broth-
er, the late R. W. Bro. Michael Puskarich who many years ago gave me that not so gentle
push to get off the sideline and get involved in Lodge. This would have been Michael’s
year as Grand Master of Masons in Ohio.
Respectfully & Fraternally,
Jeff Kopacka, W.M.
SOLOMON’S BUILDERS
History and Myth Thoroughly Exposed Christopher Hodapp 33*
Revealed is Freemasonry’s role in the transform-ation from the Dark Ages to the Age of Enlighten-ment. It’s a time when the rights of self-determination, freedom in worship and education of the masses were first being considered. In these changing times, Freemasonry greatly influenced the thinking of our country’s founders. Identified, also, are the many Masons and their contributions during and after the revolution and be-yond. The book concludes with a very thorough Masonic tour of Washington D.C. A must read!
Available for loan from our Lodge Library.
ISLAND FREEMASONRY John Bizzack, Phd, PM
This is an eye-opening, up to date history of Freemasonry in America. It reveals the real causes of the several waves of meteoric rise and plummet of membership and participation in Freemasonry. From colonial times to the 21st Century, each period is examined and historical facts presented. Recently, a new wave of interest in Freemasonry has begun again. And again – we are not prepared to prevent the plummet that always has followed. That need not happen. There are solutions that work. We can succeed in keeping our members interested and actively engaged. In my opinion, this is the most important book about Freemasonry since Anderson’s Constitutions! Our Library has several copies.
