In an unhealthy vein, the valves become weak and the vein walls become farther apart. This prevents the valves from closing at rest and blood is permitted to flow backwards and collect or pool.

At rest, the valve cusps close and prevent back flow or “pooling” of blood.

Application of external pressure (such as pressure provided by a graduated compression garment) compresses the diameter of the vein and thereby:– Increases blood velocity– Aids incompetent valve cusps to meet again– Reduces edema

Blood must circulate throughout the body and return to the heart against the natural forces of gravity.In a healthy vein, venous valves open when blood is pumped and permit blood to flow upward toward the heart.

True Gradient Compression THERAFIRM® gradient compression hosiery delivers a controlled amount of pressure greatest at the ankle and gradually decreases towards the top of the stocking to promote better blood flow and assist in preventing swelling and varicose veins. THERAFIRM® is 100% made in the USA in our own manufacturing facilities. Our gradient compression hosiery meets all applicable standards for quality and medical accuracy. Each lot of product is tested for compression accuracy at each gradient level using the latest stan-dard testing equipment.

Comfortable and CoolAll THERAFIRM® products are soft, cool and comfortable for all day wear.

– Our new light support product line, THERAFIRMlight™, features Lycra® and nylon fibers or cotton/microfiber blends for the softest garments while still providing shaping support. – Core-Spun by THERAFIRM™ support socks are made with the superior moisture wicking fibers CoolMax® or X-STATIC®.

THERAFIRM® products feature soft, comfort bands on the knee-high stockings and trouser socks, soft waistbands on pantyhose and tights, and a soft, expandable top on maternity pantyhose. Additionally all THERAFIRM® gradient compression hosiery gar-ments are made using our Micro-Cool® process. Micro-Cool® cre-ates a wicking effect so moisture evaporates from the skin quickly, therefore providing a comfortable coolness.

Patients should be measured when they first get up in the morning to prevent measurements based upon the affected area’s circumference after swelling has occurred.

Measure the patient while he or she is standing. If the fitting can not take place before the patient has been on his/her feet for some time, the patient’s legs and feet should be elevated for 15 minutes prior to taking the measurements.

Take snug measurements against the skin. Avoid measuring over socks or slacks. Never allow folds in stockings. Never remove any wound dressings. Stockings should not be too tight over dressings. Socks must fit the shape of the foot. Socks should have even compression or elasticity so that the sock takes on the anatomical shape of the foot without high compression (binding points) that may create discomfort or circulation obstruction.

Observe the bare foot prior to donning the sock. After donning the sock, the foot shape should be consistent with that of the bare foot.

Proper Sizing

What does gradient compression hosiery do?Medical Gradient compression stockings improve venous and lymphatic blood flow. Therafirm stockings are designed to deliver a controlled amount of pressure which is greatest at the distal end (ankle) of the garment and gradually decreases towards the proximal end (top) of the stocking. This gradient pressure promotes better venous blood flow which in turn helps to control swelling, varicosities, leg fatigue and other problematic leg conditions.

Who should wear gradient compression hosiery?People who have or are experiencing any of the following conditions can benefit from wearing gradient compression hosiery:

• Chronic venous insufficiency

• Moderate to severe varicose veins

• Tired, aching, fatigued legs

• Swollen feet, ankles, and legs

• Expectant mothers

• Stand or sit for long periods

• Schlerotherapy

• Lymphedema

• Overweight

• Family history of venous leg disorders

Core-Spun Gradient Compression Socks for men and women look and feel like a soft, comfortable everyday sock with the added benefit of medically correct gradient compression. The ultra stretchy yarns make the socks easier to put on and the added thickness makes the socks more comfortable for all-day wear.

What are Core-spun yarns?Core-Spun yarns are made by twisting fibers around an inner fiber, creating one yarn. This process is used to enhance functional proper-ties of fabrics such as strength, durability and stretch comfort. Core-Spun by THERAFIRM™ support socks consist of spandex as the “core yarn” with either CoolMax® yarns or anti-microbial X-STATIC®/polyester yarns as the “sheath” of twisted yarns around the core. Orders will be shipped C.O.D. or CREDIT CARD until an open account is established. We will not DROP SHIP C.O.D. ORDERS. If C.O.D. shipments are refused, all costs incurred plus a $10.00 charge may be billed to the customer.

Statements of Account are mailed the middle of each month and include invoices, credit memos and payments. Service charges may be applicable and are based on the amount past due and at a rate of 1.5% per month, effective annual rate of 18%.

Returned Checks: There will be a $25.00 service charge on all checks returned unpaid. FREIGHT: Shipments are F.O.B. Kansas City, KS or Ellerbe, NC for orders less than $300.00. RETURNED GOODS POLICY: All Therafirm® compression products and diabetic socks have a 60 day money back guarantee only if original pay-ment made by credit card at time of order.

Acceptance of all other returned merchandise is at the discretion of Knit-Rite/Therafirm. All returned merchandise will not be accepted for credit without a valid return authori-zation number. There is a maximum three month time limit in which to return all merchandise, should Therafirm approve the return.
