The latest fourth generation of METIS brings many useful features. Great emphasis is placed on the status map, where a variety of meteorological data can be displayed to support the spatial weather perception. Additions are a clearly arranged dashboard and a real-time animation of cloud cover and precipitation. Another strong feature is the “performance“ module that enables online monitoring of winter maintenance vehicles and efficient winter maintenance reporting and evaluation.

Systematic installation of a road weather station network in the Czech Republic began in the mid-nineties. Currently, the Czech road network is equipped with more than 600 units. All of them are integrated in the METIS system.
The total number of stations is constantly growing and the network allows us to monitor more than 60,000 km of roads in the whole Czech Republic.
METIS 4 and related modules (SSWM, WMi) are used by the national road authority and a number of other entities (cities and regional authorities) and private companies (e.g. technical services).
