Warner Parks
Warm sunshine and warmer temperatures will awaken the Parks: bluebells and Dutchmen’s breeches will bloom, sugar maple and oak trees will leaf out and hummingbirds and warblers will return to the forest. Here’s what we have in store for you:
• All ages are welcome every Saturday from 10 a.m.-noon to “spy” animals, plants and more!
• Adults can attend our learning series with topics including the emerald ash borer, recycling in Nashville and composting.

Cart Tours Continue This Spring We’ll provide warm blankets and a naturalist guide to drive you into the hills of Edwin Warner Park. These free tours are led specifically for folks who find walking the trails difficult. Cart tours are made possible by the Nashville Predators Foundation. March Emerald Ash Borer Epidemic in Nashville Discussion

Nashville has many beautiful native ash trees, but, sadly, none of them are immune to the effects of the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), an invasive pest rapidly spreading across Middle Tennessee. Putting Pieces Together Quilt Show Benefitting the Nature Center
Opening reception Tuesday, March 10 6 p.m. Quilts may be viewed during regular Nature Center hours, Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. through May. Sales support Nature Center programming and exhibits Artist’s Statement: “’Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.’ These are today’s buzz words. They represent a movement to a sustainable lifestyle, but I’ve been opposed to waste all my life. Thus, when I began quilting, I couldn’t stand to throw any beautiful fabric away. Eventually most of my quilts became happy, scrappy creations to make one smile. No two are the same, but all are connected through shared pieces. Compete with cities around the world vying to document the greatest number of species in their cities during this 4-day contest. Work with local biologists and naturalists as your team leads the charge in finding nature in the park. Leaders: Nature Center Staff and Volunteers
Spring Nature Fest Saturday, April 25 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Age level: All ages Registration not required What do indigo buntings, yellow-buckeye flowers and red admiral butterflies have in common? They all start appearing in spring! Share the excitement of the season during this fun festival at Warner Park Nature Center. Observe bird banding research and be a part of the grand re-opening of the Nature Center Library and new home of the B.I.R.D program; learn easy steps to create a pollinator-friendly garden and take home your first seeds to get it started; take part in the city-nature challenge as we search for spring arrivals like butterflies. Remembering the 2010 Flood Retrospective On May 2, 2010, Nashville’s rainfall exceeded 17 inches, the highest amount in more than 140 years of recorded history. Thirteen inches of rain fell in 36 hours, more than doubling the previous two-day rainfall record set in 1979. Much of Warner Parks and its surrounding neighbors were underwater for days, and the community and land were forever changed.
