Be Proactive
1. Let it go. Leave a situation in which resolution probably won’t occur.2. Apologize. Say, “I’m sorry…”, which doesn’t necessarily mean that you said or did anything wrong.3. Give In. Decide it’s not worth the bother and “give in” to the other person’s position.4. Share Responsibility. Admit your contribution to the problem while the other person does the same.5. Ask for Help. Seek help from a trusted person when individual efforts have failed.6. Postpone. Agree to wait for a better time to handle the conflict.7. Talk it Out. Keep asking each other questions to gain a better understanding of the different ways people view the conflict.8. Compromise. Agree to give up something in order to get something. All involved parties do the same.9. Chance. Choose a technique such as flipping a coin or picking a number between 1 and 10 to settle a dispute.
