Update 1/22/19—Big news this week as the front doors will no

longer be available. The downstairs glass entry will remain availa-ble. The current stairwell from downstairs will be available for a while, but will be off limits in the near future and the back stairs through the large hall will need to be used. We will continue to keep everyone updated with as much notice as possible before things change. We've had some storm drain repairs that were unex-pected, but are being addressed and corrected at this time. There will be some cutting and replacement of some asphalt in the back parking lot to make these needed repairs. The fire lines (for sprin-kler system in new building space) is being placed. When complete the lower floor slab will be poured and backfilling will take place in preparation for the upper floor. We will be upgrading the flooring in the current narthex and the sanctuary to architectural tile. Po-tential acoustical impacts are being considered, and we are working with the architects to address the potential changes in acoustics.

Keep up to date with the building project progress updates from our website at www.stmichaelsnohomish.org , Facebook and My-ParishApp and in the bulletin each weekend. Also, please share the updates with your fellow parishioners to help spread the updates!

Thank you for your continued prayers and support of this project. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work around the construction project and modify our routines to accom-modate everyone.

After finishing the reading, Jesus updated the text applying it to the life of the people, saying, “Today, this reading, which you have heard with your own ears, has been ful-filled!” His way of joining the bible to the life of the people produced a two-fold reaction. Some remained surprised and amazed. Others had a negative reaction. Some were scandalized and wanted to have nothing more to do with Him. They said, “Is He not the son of Joseph?” (Lk 4:22). Why were they scandalized? They were because Jesus says to accept and receive the poor, the blind, the oppressed. But they did not accept His proposal. And thus, when He presented His project to accept the excluded, He Himself was excluded! PERSONAL QUESTIONS • Jesus joined faith in God with the social situation of His people. How do I live my faith in God? • Where I live, are there any blind, prisoners, or op-pressed? How do I treat them? • How do I treat immigrants and foreigners? Is it with in-clusion and love, or not? Do I also use “the law” to segre-gate people?
