PRAYER CORNER “By assisting them (the Holy Souls in Purgatory) we
shall not only give great pleasure to God, but will
acquire also great merit for ourselves. And, in return
for our suffrages, these blessed souls will not neglect to
obtain for us many graces from God, but particularly
the grace of eternal life.” ~ Saint Augustine
Have you been praying daily for the Holy Souls in
Purgatory, especially during this month dedicated to
them? Remember them in your daily prayers, the Holy
Rosary, and especially at Mass!

WORLD DAY OF
CLOISTERED LIFE Pope Francis has set Tuesday,
November 21st, the feast of the
Presentation of Mary in the Temple,
as World Day of Cloistered Life
(Pro Orantibus Day). It is a day to
pray for and to support cloistered and monastic
religious. The primary purpose of this day is to thank God
for the tremendous gift of the cloistered and monastic
vocation in the life of the Church. Ways to honor these men
and women include prayer, encouragement, and material
support. Consider sending a card or letter to monasteries in
our area to let them know of your prayers and support.
SEMINARIAN BIRTHDAY Our parish seminarian, Deacon Kyle
Sladek, will be celebrating his birthday on
December 2. How wonderful it would be if
many members of our parish sent him cards,
care packages, etc. to let him know of our
prayers and support for him as he continues to discern his
vocation to the priesthood. His address is: Mundelein
Seminary 1000 E. Maple Ave. Mundelein, IL 60060.
ITEMS/INFORMATION NEEDED 1.) Does anyone know who compiled this binder
which has information about the WWI and WWII plaques
that honor the Cathedral parishioners who served in the
Armed Forces.
2.) We are looking for a copy of the small blue Baltimore
Catechism book designated as #1. We would accept it as a
donation or on loan.
3.) Does anyone have a copy of the music and words to the
Cathedral School Spirit Song?

OPPORTUNITIES FOR GRACE! We are in need of one person for these dates: November
25/26, December 2/3 & 9/10, to sell the Diocesan History
Books after Mass. (or until all books are sold) The table
will be located by the elevator at St. John’s and by the
greeters desk beginning December 3rd, at the Cathedral.
Starting Sunday, December 3rd, we will once again begin
having Sunday Socials. We would like to do things
differently by asking parishioners to bring a dozen baked
or store-bought goodies, such as cookies, muffins and bars
for the Sunday Social. Our hope is to get enough people, so
each person would only be called upon once a month.
Some of you may have received a call already, but if not
and you are interested, please call us. Your help is greatly
needed and appreciated.
Please prayerfully consider how you can help your parish
with any of these opportunities, and call the office at
432-4348. Thank you.
RENOVATION UPDATE! We are in the last two weeks of the 13-week outage at the
Cathedral. All work is on schedule and we are set for the
re-opening on Sunday, December 3rd.
The work during these last two weeks will include:
finishing the pew installation; carpeting around the altar;
completing the floor installation in the Doty Street entrance;
tuning the pipe organ; completing a checkup on our sound
system; and a very comprehensive cleaning of the church
and BWC.
During the last week we will need volunteers to move
everything back into the Cathedral and get everything set
for the opening.
Again, a sincere thank you to everyone for your patience
and understanding during this outage.
~TECH Committee
Important notice!
We know and understand that everyone is anxious and
excited about our return. With this in mind, we must insist
that no one visit the church (some of the floor is not to be
walked on, etc). The staff has also been asked not to enter
the church.
CATHEDRAL RE-OPENING MASS! Cathedral’s re-opening Mass will be on Sunday, December
3rd at 9 am celebrated by Bishop Ricken. Please note:
Mass on Saturday, December 2nd at 4 pm will be our last
Mass at St. John’s.
