lhambra Season Partners & Guests,
I think I had my first midlife crisis about ten years ago. Some people go out and buy a sports car, travel the world, get a new job, or start a new hobby (or dozens of other things that I won’t mention). I decided to buy a dinner theater. Perhaps having recently turned 50, running this show is a subconscious reminder of my ongoing journey through the "middle" of life.
I have said many times, the journey has been, and continues to be, wonderful. Some of our shows we enjoy more than others. Some shows sell better than others, and, as you've seen, can sell out really quickly. Regardless, I wake up every day excited to come to work and that must mean I chose the right outlet for my midlife crisis. When I ask myself "why?" the answer is clear: you.
What makes the Alhambra such a wonderful experience is the relationship we all have with this place. Whether you’re here every day like we are, or you're here every show as are our Season Partners, or you just attend a couple of times throughout the year, you know that visiting the Alhambra is unlike any other experience in town. You’ve known some of our servers for more than 30 years and you’ve shaken hands with Executive Chef DeJuan for the last seven. We love the other theaters and strongly encourage you visit them if their programming interests you. We won’t think it’s a midlife crisis - and we know you’ll be back. Because this is family. This is home.
Whether you’re celebrating your midlife crisis, your 21st birthday or your 50th anniversary, we are glad you are here. Thanks for sharing your memories and making your memories with us.

He has appeared at ACT (A Contemporary Theatre), the Seattle Opera, Seattle Shakespeare Company,
Village Theatre, and the Wooden O Symposium. He most recently played Teddy Roosevelt in Village Theatre’s production of Newsies. Brian is originally from the Chicagoland area. He met his wife there while in the North American premier of Jerry Springer: The Opera, where he played the man himself, Jerry Springer. Brian is also a visual artist who tries to inspire everyone to draw everyday!
Michael Strauss MAN 2A Detroit native currently residing in Atlanta, Michael was last seen on the Alhambra stage with Barbara Eden in Social Security. You may also recognize him from Remember Me? with Joyce DeWitt, as Felix in The Odd Couple with Barry Williams or as Charlie in The Foreigner.
Many thanks to his darling wife Valory, to Tod and the amazing staff here for having him back, and thanks to you, as always, for coming to the theatre. Woo-hoo, it’s great to be home again. This one’s for Mum, Dad & Marin.
Patti Eyler* WOMAN 1Last seen as crotchety little Sister Lee in Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?, Patti spends most of her time behind the scenes. Mark Poppleton* MAN 3Mark was recently seen on the Alhambra stage as Walter Hobbs in Elf the Musical and as Benjamin Franklin in 1776. He has toured in several shows including Man of La Mancha, Spring Awakening, The Addams Family, and Camelot. His goal to perform in every state is
almost complete, with only one state left - Hawaii. The film, Cry for the Bad Man, in which he plays Bill MacMohan, Sr. premiered this past January, here in Jacksonville to a sold-out crowd. When not on the road, he lives in the gorgeous Finger Lakes region of western New York. www.markpoppleton.com
Becky Baxter* WOMAN 3Becky’s so happy to be back at this special theater. She has a feeling she is going to have even more fun than she did during last season’s A Fox on the Fairway! Her 40-year career spans Broadway, national tours, New York City Opera, Tony award-winning regional theaters, TV and film. However, being “Mom” to Phoebe (25) and Bailey (20) is her longest run and most favorite role. She’s finding that midlife ain’t so bad, after all! www.rebeccabaxteractress.com Thank you Tod for getting me out of the cold!
Lisa Valdini* WOMAN 2Lisa is happy to be back on the Alhambra stage. Her most recent shows include Elf the Musical, Steel Magnolias and The Dixie Swim Club. When not on stage, Lisa performs behind a microphone doing voice-overs and narrating audio books. She was the voice of Winn Dixie for 12 years. You may also have seen her on HGTV and DIY network, where she was the host of All In Good Taste. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Goodman School of Drama. Thanks to Craig and the theatre partners for keeping the dream alive.
