TEMPORARY ROUNDABOUT AT McCRIMMON PKWY AND PERIMETER PARK DR
As the McCrimmon Parkway Phase 2 project (new stretch of McCrimmon Pkwy from Airport Blvd to Aviation Pkwy) is getting ready to be opened to traffic by the end of March 2020, the Town of Morrisville is in the process of installing a temporary roundabout at the McCrimmon Pkwy/Perimeter Park Drive intersection. This is being done to enhance traffic flow at this intersection in preparation for a new traffic signal that will be installed in the near future.
On March 20th (and March 23rd, if work is delayed due to weather conditions), contractors will be installing a temporary traffic roundabout at the McCrimmon Pkwy and Perimeter Park Drive intersection. The roundabout will consist of orange safety barrels, signage and striping improvements to provide for safe vehicle mobility through the intersection.
Drivers should expect temporary delays during installation. Once installed, the temporary roundabout will be open to traffic. The temporary roundabout will be in place for 60 – 90 days until a new traffic signal is installed at this intersection. Town staff will be monitoring the traffic conditions at this intersection (McCrimmon Pkwy and Perimeter Park Dr) during the 60 – 90 day time period.
Below is a graphical concept of what the roundabout will look like at the McCrimmon Pkwy/Perimeter Park Drive intersection.
Please contact the following Town staff for additional information:• Mark Spanioli, P.E. Town Engineer [email protected]; (919) 463-6193• Jim Grimstead, PW Operations Manager [email protected]; (919) 463-7075• Vinod Korategere, P.E. Sr Capital Proj Mgr [email protected]; (919) 463-6147
Please visit the Town’s website (www.townofmorrisville.org) for additional information.
The temporary roundabout is now in place at McCrimmon Pkwy and Perimeter Park Dr and will remain for the next 30-60 days until a new traffic signal is installed at this intersection.
Town staff will be monitoring the traffic conditions at this intersection during this time period.

spring tips.
While we are all working through the new normal with our ‘stay at home lives’ there is lots of great news to share with what is happening outside both at Perimeter Park and at home. The spring season is almost behind us as the official start of summer approaches on May 7th. Our friends at Bland Landscaping are removing winter annuals from the flower beds throughout the Park as we speak and are gearing up for installing a fresh planting of summer tropical flowers the week of May 4th.
Now is the time for you to plant your spring and summer flowers and to get those summer gardens going as well. Whether they be out in the backyard or on the balcony of the apartment taking the right steps today will ensure great success tomorrow! Follow the same steps the pros take to have your flower beds and gardens looking great! If you have never planted flowers or a garden, it’s simple and inexpensive to do. Just plan ahead and follow these basic guidelines to ensure success!
SUNLIGHT: Most fruiting and flowering plants need a full day of sunshine. Not sure how much? Check with your garden center or look on the tags that come on most packs of flowers, vegetables or herbs. You’ll find lots of great information there.
SOIL: Plants depend on their soil for water, air, and nutrients. If you are planting a container garden at the apartment use a potting mix. Potting mix is light and fluffy, efficiently circulating air and water to keep roots healthy. Planting at home in the yard? Work that soil! Turn with a shovel or till with a gas-powered rototiller.
WATER: Plants in containers need a lot of water, often multiple times a day. So choose a spot for your garden that has easy access to a water supply. Carrying watering cans can get tedious, especially if you have several plants. If it works for your setup, consider purchasing a hose that can be attached to a sink faucet. It’s handy when you need it, and it coils away when you don’t. Watering at home can be streamlined with a small battery powered timer that attaches to an outside water spigot. Most Home Improvements Stores or Garden Centers will carry these. Add some hose and sprinklers and voila! You have a simple and effective irrigation system.
FERTILIZER: Plants need food to grow. Make sure you provide them with all they need by using a complete fertilizer like a 10-10-10 analysis. Planting in containers? Check the potting soil you are using, quite often fertilizer is already incorporated into the potting mix and has everything you need in the bag.

spring tips.HUMIDITY: For your apartment gardeners. If you are growing your plants on an indoor windowsill, you might need to provide some extra humidity, especially when the sun is shining bright through the windows. Spritzing the plants with a fine mist can help, or you can place the plants near a tray of water.
WIND: Living on the 6th floor? If your plants will be exposed to high winds, especially on a rooftop or from heavy traffic near a balcony, you might need some added protection. Wind can tear through leaves and overturn top-heavy pots. So provide a wind block, such as a screen or railing. Or make sure your containers are wide and heavy enough to anchor the plants.
WEIGHT: This is specific to our apartment gardeners. Containers full of soil are heavy to begin with, and once they are saturated with water their weight can triple. A gallon of water is 8.34 lbs. Make sure your apartment garden spot can handle the weight. And if you're gardening on a balcony or rooftop, check with your landlord or building board about weight restrictions.
PLANTS: Now that you have the basics. Time to pick some plants. Herbs, salad greens, chili peppers and tomatoes work great for container vegetable gardens. If you are planting your yard at home, the sky is the limit. Think tropical for flowers. There are lots of choices. Shop with your eyes and buy what piques your interest. Check those tags! Make sure that what you choose will work in your situation. Remember the sunlight, water and soil we talked about? Still not sure what to buy? Talk to the folks at the garden center or the farmers market where you will be purchasing your plants.
