Prayer in the Taizé Style of Worship Taizé worship is quiet and reflective. It can be both peaceful and joyful, including simple songs and chants in

different languages, readings, silences and prayers. Our hymns are sung over and over as a prayer of the heart. The focus of Taizé is on Christ and the cross, reconciliation,

and prayers for the suffering throughout the world.During the current shelter-in-place, the All Saints Taizé Community is offering worship virtually. Each Thursday

night at 6:00 p.m. we will release and together watch a video service on our Facebook page at http://facebook.com/ASCTaize. The services will remain on the Facebook page, so you may visit at any time.

Jazz Vespers Sunday, August 2, 2020, 5:00 p.m.

John & Gerald Clayton

John Clayton is a natural born multitasker. The multiple roles in which he excels -- composer, arranger, conductor, producer, educator, and yes, ex-traordinary bassist -- garner him a number of challenging assignments and commissions. With a Grammy on his shelf and eight additional nominations, artists such as Diana Krall, Paul McCartney, Gladys Knight, Queen Latifah, and Charles Aznavour vie for a spot on his crowded calendar. Career high-lights include arranging the ‘Star Spangled Banner” for Whitney Houston’s performance at Super Bowl 1990 (the recording went platinum), playing bass on Paul McCartney’s CD “Kisses On The Bottom,” and numerous re-cordings with Diana Krall, the Clayton Brothers, the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz, Orchestra, Milt Jackson, Monty Alexander and many others.

Gerald Clayton searches for honest expression in every note he plays. With harmonic curiosity and critical aware-ness, he develops musical nar-ratives that unfold as a result of both deliberate searching and chance uncovering. The four-time GRAMMY-nominated pianist/composer formally began his musical journey at the prestigious Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance at USC’s Thornton School of Music under the instruction of piano icon Billy Childs. Clayton won second place in the 2006 Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz

Piano Competition. Capturing the truth in each moment’s conception of sound comes naturally to Clayton. The son of beloved bass player and composer John Clayton, he enjoyed a familial apprenticeship from an early age. Clayton honors the legacy of his father and all his musical ancestors through a commitment to artistic exploration, innovation, and reinvention.
