FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
We Are ON FIRE Program
Here is a shout out to all our parishioners who responded to the We Are
ON FIRE Program. Whatever you discerned as appropriate for you at this
time, please know that your commitment to intentional support of our
shared parish mission is a blessing. Thank you for allowing the parish we
love to meet its needs and follow its dreams. A summary report will be
mailed to all participants in the next few weeks.
If you did indicate an increase in your intentional giving, please remember
to begin your new level by way of the Sunday Offertory envelopes or by
going online and adjusting your designated Offertory.
We Are ON FIRE Because Of YOU!
Stewardship Prayer
My parish is composed of people like me.
I help make it what it is.
It will be friendly, if I am.
It will be holy, if I am.
Its pews will be filled, if I help fill them.
It will do great work, if I work.
It will be prayerful, if I pray.
It will make generous gifts to many causes,
if I am a generous giver.
It will bring others into worship,
if I invite and bring them in.
It will be a place of loyalty and love,
of fearlessness and faith, of compassion,
charity, and mercy, if I, who make it what it is,
am filled with these same things.
Therefore, with the help of God,
I now dedicate myself to
the task of being all the things
that I want my parish to be.
Amen.
Hello families and friends of Corpus Christi Academy. It is my pleasure to share everything
that is “The Academy” with you. As the weather gets colder and the days get shorter it
really gives our Eagles a chance to renew their dedication to their school work. With the
first quarter having passed, we now focus on continuing to build upon our successes and
develop the areas that require growth. This is done through hard work, communication, and
collaboration. It requires all of us working together to ensure the sustained success of all of
our students at a very high level. Please continue to work with your children at home,
challenge them to SOAR to new levels, and encourage them to reach out to their teachers
and cultivate an environment where learning is a shared success. It is very similar to
building our faith in Christ. It takes communication, collaboration, and a willingness to
work on our shortcomings. As always, we will keep all of you in our prayers. Please do so
for the Corpus Christi Academy students, faculty, and staff.
As for ME AND MY HOUSE, We will serve the Lord! - Joshua 24:15

Symbolon Living the Faith
Catholic Social Teaching: Protecting the Dignity of the Human Person
Catholic Social Teaching isn’t just for Catholics; it’s for the entire world. It is a way to think about and
act on the issues that face all of us in order to bring about a greater flourishing and happiness of every
human person. It’s a way to help all people live in accord with basic human dignity and to bring about
true and lasting peace in the world.
In the December session of Symbolon, we will consider how it is that when we encounter those in need,
we encounter the Lord Himself. This is the bottom line of Catholic Social Teaching. We will meet at
Saint Paschal on Monday, December 2 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the KAZEL ROOM or at
Saint Clare on Thursday, December 5 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Harvest Room. There is no
registration fee, so please just come and become part of this exciting adult faith formation program.
If you cannot attend either of these sessions, we invite you to watch the video on FORMED
(http://www.saintclare.formed.org) and join the online community to share your questions and
comments. If you have any questions or would like further information, call Barb Curran at
440-840-5511 or Rosalie Lewis at 440-227-8718.
Rejoice in the Lord!
Advent Family Night
Saturday, December 7, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
In the Academy Gym
Please join us for our annual Advent Family Night. This is a fun evening for families to come together
during the waiting days of Advent to prepare for Christmas. Come join us as we look beyond the
decorations of the season to the event that shapes our celebration, the birth of Christ our Savior. We
have a prayer service, pizza, a movie and family activities. We encourage grandparents, single friends
and neighbors to join your family for this special evening. BRING A SNACK TO SHARE.
RSVP by Friday, December 6, to Ms. Lori Mascia, 440-449-4242, extension 119 or
[email protected]. Registration forms are also available in the business office.
“Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord.” ~ Psalm 122
Annual Day of Recollection
The Feast of Christ the King is Sunday, November 24.
All are welcome to attend the Annual Day of
Recollection for the Feast of Christ the King on Sunday,
November 24 with Fr. Eric Orzech at the Shrine Church
of Saint Stanislaus, 3649 East 65th Street, Cleveland,
Ohio. Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. followed
by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Eucharistic
devotions. For more information and tickets for lunch,
please call Marlene at 216-447-9375.
After a near fatal car accident, the power
of prayer gave Erica an Attitude of
Gratitude. What are a few local
celebrities thankful for this season? Read
this and more in the new issue of
Northeast Ohio Catholic Magazine. Be
sure to check your mailbox or go

American Heritage Girls
Shoe Collection Drive
The American Heritage Girls are
starting their biannual Shoe Collection
drive. By cleaning out your closets,
you can help support our Troop and
help others in developing countries by
repurposing your shoes. Our goal is
2,600 pairs of shoes by January 18.
We are looking for new or gently used
shoes (all kinds—adults, kids, boots,
sandals, high heels).
There will be collection boxes in the
back of the church. Please put your
donated shoes in there. If there are
any questions, please contact Christy
Raynor at 440-684-0549. Thank you
for your support.
Boxes of Joy Campaign
The American Heritage Girls would like to thank everyone who helped us in our Krispy Kreme Donut Sale.
We sold over 150 dozen donuts. The proceeds went to support the Troop and the Cross Catholic Outreach
Boxes of Joy Campaign. We sent 32 Boxes of Joy to their Campaign. The Boxes of Joy will be distributed
during Christmas to children in the greatest need throughout the world. The Troop was able to send
$600.00 to Cross Catholic Outreach to help with the shipping and buying of additional Boxes of Joy. Each
box costs $9.00 to ship, and the additional funds will enable Cross Catholic Outreach to fill extra boxes. The
box is a shoebox filled with items such as stuffed animals, school items, hygiene items and small toys, which
each girl in the Troop puts together themselves. Look for our ad again next year. Thanks once again for
your support!

Thanksgiving Food and Clothing Drive
November 23 and 24
Food will be collected the weekend before Thanksgiving for the Saint Augustine Hunger Center on West 14
Street and for those within our parish area. If food can be shared with you, please contact our
Outreach members by calling 440-449-4242, extension 161.
Please bring your food items to Room 12 in the school near the Saint Clare Statue. In order to show respect
to those being assisted, please make sure nonperishable food items have “best by” or “use by” dates of
November 2019 and future dates. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration.
Because of the lack of refrigerator space, meat-type products will only be accepted on Sunday,
November 24. The Saint Augustine staff members will promptly pick up the food at 1:00 p.m. that day.
Check contributions should be made payable to the Church of Saint Clare. On the memo line, please show:
“For Saint Augustine.”
This same weekend, we are also seeking men’s gently used winter-type clothing for the Fr. Wittman
Ozanam Center at the former Saint Philomena Church. Items such as jeans, sweatshirts, boots, shoes,
