From Father David...

Centennial Corner: Did you ever notice as you look around our

church that it may seem plain and maybe even bland? There is a

reason for this and we call it “simple”. When our current struc-

ture was being designed the building committee used St.

Therese’s vision in its architecture. She was very simple, true & genuine in

all she did. So you will see everything in our church is authentic. If it looks

like steel, wood, glass, or concrete, it is steel, wood, glass, or concrete. St.

Therese saw Gods Love as simple without distractions.

I’m sure that you know the Christmas song that begins On the first day of

Christmas my true love gave to me a partridge in a pear tree. Each day of the

Christmas season represents a gift of our True Love, God Father, Son and Holy

Spirit. Let’s explore the twelve days in our parish life with deep gratitude:

On the First Day of Christmas, December 25th: What beautiful Masses we

celebrated and doesn’t our church look magnificent dressed in its Christmas

finery thanks to the Environment Committee. Thank you, music and liturgical

ministers that assist our divine worship.

On the Second Day of Christmas, December 26th: The Feast of St. Stephen the

deacon and first martyr. Say a prayer in gratitude for Deacon Harold and Mary

Pardew.

On the Third Day of Christmas, December 27th: The Feast of St. John the

apostle reminds us to lift up in thanksgiving the volunteer directors of Reli-

gious Education: Joyce Edwards for the younger children and Jackie Nelson

for the teens.

On the Fourth Day of Christmas, December 28th: Today, the Feast of the Holy

Innocents murdered by Herod, is an appropriate time to pray for the gift of un-

born life and children in danger of hunger, disease and war.

On the Fifth Day of Christmas, December 29th: The Finance Council, Pastoral

Council and pastor would like to thank profoundly the benefactors of St.

Therese Parish: those who are committed financially to the work of the parish.

Know that I offer Holy Mass monthly for your intentions.

On the Sixth Day of Christmas, December 30th: St. Therese Parish is blessed

with great committees: Finance and Pastoral Committees; Building and

Grounds; SOFC; Faith Formation, Liturgy and Centennial Committee. Keep

up the great work for the Lord!

On the Seventh Day of Christmas, December 31st: Let me take this occasion of

the last day of the year to thank you, dear Parishioners, for your kind gifts,

cards and invitations into your homes. I am humbled by the love and encour-

agement I receive from you.

On the Eighth Day of Christmas, January 1st: The Day of Prayer for Peace calls

us to consecrate the new year by praying for peace in the most vulnerable parts

of the world.

On the Ninth Day of Christmas, January 2nd: Thank you, office volunteers,

who have kept our office open and running since October. The whole parish

joins me in thanking God for such dedicated parishioners.

On the Tenth Day of Christmas, January 3rd: The Feast of the Holy Name of

Jesus is a day of welcoming three new Staff members: Sheila Haffeman, the

office administrator; Allie Yaw, the Director of Religious Education K-12; and

Lisa Roers who takes on the Music Coordinator position. Stay tuned for com-

ing events to welcome them!

On the Eleventh Day of Christmas, January 4th: The Memorial of St. Elizabeth

Ann Seton, the first canonized native-born American, calls St. Therese Parish

to the Christian gift of holiness, lived daily in our lives. A perfect way for this

holy people to prepare for our parish Centennial that will conclude in October.

On the Twelfth Day of Christmas, January 5th: Today is the vigil of Epiph-

any’s traditional date. Epiphany is the Church’s time of blessing homes for

the year, with new holy water and blessed chalk. Please consider asking me to

your home to share God’s blessings for the new year. I promise that it won’t

take more than 15 minutes. And we should never refuse God’s blessings when

he wants to give them in abundance.
