Lizards are part of a large groupof reptiles, a class of animals with

mostly dry, horny scales. This groupincludes iguanas, chameleons, geckos, monitors, and skinks. Many of themcan leap, climb trees, and swim. One

even runs on water! Some of them looklike lile dinosaurs. Others are like

lile alligators. Some even remind you

of erce storybook dragons. A longtime ago, when people saw lizards likethe bearded dragon, they thought they

were baby dragons!There are over 4,500

species (types) oflizards in the world.
