Memory Books All returning students were given a small scrap book at the end of last year to use as a Holiday memory book. Thank you to the students who have used this book as requested and remembered to bring it back to school. The entries in the Memory book are to help your children with writing ideas. If you know where the book is hiding at home, could you please encourage your children to bring them back to school.

Cowwarr Primary School Most of you will have heard by now, but last night Cowwarr Primary School was badly damaged by fire, cause unknown at this stage. The damage is so extensive that the Staff and Students will be unable to use the site for a long time. The fire started at about 9.30 last night and Police are investigating the cause. Our thoughts go out to the Staff, students and families of the school and the whole Cowwarr community. We all know how important small rural schools are to their local communities. Cowwarr is part of our Rural Cluster of Schools and we know those students will be devastated at not being able to attend their school.

Playgroup The Small Talk Playgroup facilitated by Denise Kelly from Uniting, will resume again next Tuesday 4th of Feb. Playgroup is held in the Rec Room and anyone with pre-schoolers is more than welcome. It is not just for Bundy families so if you know of anyone who has pre-schoolers who would enjoy coming, please let them know. It begins around 9.00 and goes to about 11.00. MARC VAN The Marc Van will begin its visits to Bundy again next and every WEDNESDAY. This is an opportunity for all children to borrow library books and to enjoy a Literacy lesson with Miss Carter. Miss Carter has asked that all children bring a bag to carry their library books in please. A bag helps to keep the books in good condition. Children from Mrs Chisholm’s room could use their Prep bags they were given yesterday or at the start of last year. Your co-operation is much appreciated.

FOUNDATION REST DAY Term 1 is very tiring for students, particularly the younger ones (and older teachers!) Every Wednesday up until the Labour Day long weekend on March 9th, Foundation students will not be required at school. Instead they can take the opportunity to have a rest day until they build their stamina for a full week. Following rules, socialising, listening and concentrating whilst learning can take its toll, often resulting as unruly behaviour at school and home. Even after the Long Weekend in March, some parents may feel their child would benefit from further rest days. Please speak to Cindy about this. FURNITURE AVAILABLE We have some excess furniture at school and we are offering it to anyone interested on a first in, first served basis. There are a couple of book shelves, some tables and a sofa bed. Please see Viv or Kerrie if you are interested.

Some Reminders: Toys are to be left at home unless it is

something special and an arrangement has been made with the classroom teacher.

Carpark – Please enter the Carpark from the Maffra side and exit from the Sale side. Follow the lanes and arrows for parking. If you need to leave the car, FOR ANY REASON, please park up against the fence so you are not blocking other cars in. It is highly recommended, that cars going to Maffra, park in the lane closest to the road or the middle lane to make exiting safer.

Kerrie – Works in the Office part-time. Her days are Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. Any enquires on Thursdays and Fridays can be directed to Viv.

School Nurse – Foundation students have the opportunity to be screened by the School Nurse and must return the information sent home as soon as possible please. If parents would like older children to see the Nurse, please come and see Viv.

Working With Children’s Check – People wanting to join in activities at school or go on excursions with school, must have a current WWCC, which can be obtain for free, on-line. If you have one, please bring it to the Office so Kerrie can take the details down.

Some of our Professional Learning is during the day and some is after school. When they learning is during the day, we will endeavour to employ regular Relief Teachers who fit in well in our school, to cause the least amount of disruption. Casual Relief Staff, however, help children learn to be resilient, to accept change, and develop a flexible attitude, which is great preparation for those heading to secondary school in the near future.

Fires We all know that the recent fires have been devastating for Far East Gippsland and other parts of Victoria, N.S.W and S.A. If you or your family have been impacted by the fires in any way and feel you could use some support, please come and see me. There are some support systems available if needed. Viv

Specialty Subjects This year, Music and Art will both be on a Friday for all students. We have a new teacher, Megan McDonald who will be coming in on a Friday to enjoy these subjects with the students. Megan teaches music and art at other schools in the area. Photo next week. Anthony will be teaching Indonesian again this year and Cindy will take Science. Laura will be teaching technology throughout the school. Viv will be helping in the Junior room on Monday afternoons and Friday mornings and covering staff to enable them to go to meetings.

Schoolstream We will be using Schoolstream again this year to communicate with families. I will be sending Newsletters, permission forms, reminders and SMS messages through School Stream. I also encourage you to fill in permission forms and absence forms on Schoolstream. If you haven’t already got this App on your device, Google Schoolstream, search for Bundalaguah, then fill in your contact details. Anyone who doesn’t want this means of communication, needs to let me know so I can organise an alternative. This system works really well from the School perspective as it saves us a lot of money and resources, particularly paper and ink.
