As a meeting point of many disciplines (management, finance, economics and marketing, and so on), the International Colloquium of Research in Economics and Management "CIREG" is back this year in its 5th edition on December 5, 6 and 7 in Marrakech, to stimulate an exchange of reflections among researchers and professionals around managerial issues. In a context marked by perpetual changes, increased competitiveness and extensive complexity, the various management approaches are put to the test as to their ability to provide solutions to the challenges raised by companies in relation to their stakeholders: customers , suppliers, employees, shareholders, funders, and so forth. In financial matters, management faces major challenges. One of these challenges relates to regulation and international coordination to ensure the soundness of the international financial system. Digitization, which affects all banking services, and which must be better managed, with the uncertainty on cryptocurrencies and the key role that central banks must play to guide this digital evolution. The macroeconomic risks, particularly related to economic recovery actions for post-2008 crisis, with the problem of very low interest rates and their impact on the health of financial companies. The marketing function of the company also presents challenges that management must meet. The first one is going from the marketing of the assumption to the marketing of certainty. The “digital data”, the combination of data generated by DMP and the machine learning engines make it possible to somehow replace the assumption with certainty, which considerably increases the precision of targeting. Then, consider all points of contact with the consumer in the calculation of the ROI. Decisions based on an ROI that only measures the economic performance of call centers and outlets are increasingly biased. It is basically due to the fact that they consider only two points of contact with the consumer whereas today there are tools to follow them in real time on all the points of contact with which they interact. One of the major tasks of the marketing function is, therefore, to take digital performance into account and integrate it into its analysis. To achieve this, it is necessary to set up the measurement infrastructure that can generate the required data. Moreover, in the face of increasing globalization, and therefore the rise of interdependencies and the economic, social and ecological crisis, management must always face a real global governance that seems urgent. The problems facing the world today are no longer the same. Whether one thinks of climate change, possible pandemics or massive population movements, many contemporary issues require going beyond established practices, centered on intergovernmental multilateralism, to rather develop new modes of collective action at the global scale to include a range of non-state actors.

Under the Theme:

Management: Between Agility and Innovation

The theory of complexity deals with a general class of problems that can be modeled as a system of multiple, unique, and partially connected agents seeking to adapt or develop. The interaction of these agents produces system-wide results (Holland and Miller, 1991). Single agents reinforce the possibilities of innovation compared to those likely to be identical (Axelrod and Cohen, 1999). In addition, a high number of agents increases the opportunity for innovative combinations (Galunic and Eisenhardt, 2001). To this end, multifunctional management teams from the various strategic business areas (SBA) that focus on adapting their organizations to the market can be modeled as a complex adaptive system (Kathleen M. Eisenhardt and Mahesh M. Bhatia, 2017). On the other hand, agility can be defined as “The ability to cope with unexpected challenges, to survive the unprecedented threats posed by the economic environment and to take advantage of changes and opportunities” (Sharifi and Zhang, 1999). It is also defined as “the ability to: discover new opportunities that offer a competitive advantage; use existing knowledge, assets and relationships to seize these opportunities; and adapt to sudden changes in economic conditions” (Setia, Sambamurthy, and Closs, 2008). Also, innovation can be seen as a form of organizational agility that allows managers to adjust the strategic trajectory of their organizations against the profound changes that affect their environment. Indeed, when organizations engage in product innovation, coordination of knowledge and information in specific areas such as R & D and marketing (Sherman, Berkowitz and Souder, 2005), sales, marketing and R & D (Ernst, Hoyer and Rübsaamen, 2010) or R & D, marketing and manufacturing (Brettel, Heinemann, Engelen and Neubauer, 2011, Song, Thieme and Xie, 1998), these processes engaged in innovation are supposed to have positive effects at the different stages of development and the performance of new products. In addition, companies are now embracing new product innovation processes using ideas from areas such as Lean Product Development and Agile Software. This usually involves entrusting certain elements of decision-making to small, self-organized teams, on the assumption that this will increase the pace and diversity of product innovation, allow teams to get closer to specific customers and facilitate the integration of specialized suppliers (Bishop, 2017). Similarly, the public sector is not immune to these changes as the context of public organizations becomes more complex, the need for intelligent management of organizational knowledge and decision-making processes should be addressed more systematically ( Petri Virtanen, Jarmo Vakkuri, 2015). Taking into account the effects of interaction encourages public managers not to adopt a too linear and simplistic vision and to adapt the implementation of knowledge management to the inherent characteristics and the political environment of their organizations (Pee Loo Geok; Kankanhalli, 2015).

Management: Between Agility and Innovation

To this end, many questions are raised by several authors, particularly as to exploring the links between organizational agility, marketing agility, digitalization and financial performance: - Is agility a prerequisite or a consequence of digitization? (Lindner and Leyh, 2018). - How does digital disruption strengthen organizational agility? (Norbert Jesse, 2018). - Should modeling languages (DSML) be aimed at adapting to a large number of organizations or should they be adapted to the specific needs of an organization? (Clark, Frank, Kulkarni, 2016). - Is marketing agility positively related to financial performance? (Zhou, Mavondo, Saunders, 2018). The aim of this international symposium is to propose a platform of reflection around these questions and to encourage a sharing of experiences among academics and professionals from various horizons. The symposium will be organized around three axes, each subdivided into several disciplinary fields:
