Thursday November 30, 2017 Busy end to the year ahead! With the end of the year in sight (only 2 weeks to go), we start to see some great events and activities to celebrate the year in style. Next week sees the start of these busy couple of weeks with our Special Awards Assembly held at 9.30am on Monday. Parents are invited to come along to this special assembly as we present certificates recognising student participation throughout the year. Thursday night will see our Carols kick off at 5pm, with parents and community invited to join our students in singing a range of carols to celebrate Christmas. A very special person in a red suit is also planning to come along and share in the fun. The following week sees our annual Presentation Day, Year 6 Farewell and Stage Party Days which are a great way to end the year on a high. Semester 2 Reports If staff have a few more bags under their eyes than usual, it may just be due to them working extremely hard over the last few weeks putting together Semester 2 reports for all students. This is an enormous process for teachers on top of their weekly teaching responsibilities as they assess, write, compare across classes and edit to ensure these are accurate and informative for parents. These reports will be sent home in Week 10, so keep your eye on students’ bags. P&C meeting Tuesday 5th Dec Our last P&C meeting for 2017 will be held in the Library on Tuesday the 5th starting at 4.30pm. As part of the agenda, we will be sharing drafts of both our next 3 year plan and new Positive Behaviour policy, so come and check them out and give some feedback . Busy end to the year ahead!

With the end of the year in sight (only 2 weeks to go), we

start to see some great events and activities to celebrate

the year in style.

Next week sees the start of these busy couple of weeks

with our Special Awards Assembly held at 9.30am on

Monday. Parents are invited to come along to this special

assembly as we present certificates recognising student

participation throughout the year.

Thursday night will see our Carols kick off at 5pm, with

parents and community invited to join our students in

singing a range of carols to celebrate Christmas. A very

special person in a red suit is also planning to come along

and share in the fun.

The following week sees our annual

Presentation Day, Year 6 Farewell and

Stage Party Days which are a great

way to end the year on a high.

Semester 2 Reports

If staff have a few more bags under their eyes than usual, it

may just be due to them working extremely hard over the

last few weeks putting together Semester 2 reports for all

students. This is an enormous process for teachers on top

of their weekly teaching responsibilities as they assess,

write, compare across classes and edit to ensure these are

accurate and informative for parents. These reports will be

sent home in Week 10, so keep your eye on students’ bags.

P&C meeting Tuesday 5th Dec

Our last P&C meeting for 2017 will be held in the Library on

Tuesday the 5th starting at 4.30pm. As part of the agenda,

we will be sharing drafts of both our next 3 year plan and

new Positive Behaviour policy, so come and check them

out and give some feedback .

The Summer Reading Club

Reading is an essential skill for everyone. It is the vital foundation of a child’s learning and engagement in their school

years and for life. Every year over the summer break, Cessnock and Kurri Kurri Libraries organise a reading competition,

whereby children and their families are rewarded for reading. Participants earn tickets for their reading and have a chance

to win a prize at the draw at the beginning of the new school year.

This year’s Summer Reading Club kicks off in December – all you need to do is come into Cessnock or Kurri Kurri Library

any time on or after Friday 1st December, register at the front counter, pick up your Summer Reading Kit, and you’re on

your way!

For more information, please contact Cessnock Library on 49934399 or email [email protected] or Kurri Kurri

Library on 49371638 or [email protected]
