.See, I am bringing you good tidings of great joy for all the people...Luke 2:10

I think it would be near impossible to have not heard of Michael Brown

(though I understand some choose to not watch the news). For those who don’t know, Michael Brown was an African American youth who was shot six times and killed by the Police in Ferguson MO. People in that town were rightly upset that an unarmed man was shot and killed. However, there is more to this story that hasn’t been talked about. Mr. Brown as-saulted a police officer (in fact he broke his eye socket) Mr. Brown also had just come from the commission of a crime (robbery). Are these rea-sons enough to kill an unarmed man? No, but I also and am not in a hurry in rushing to judgment of the offic-ers, they have a very difficult job to do, and when tensions are high mis-takes are made. The real problem is-n’t the mistake, it’s the social policies leading up to, and actions after the event that are most troublesome. In our country we have a very warped view of justice. We perceive that the only way for justice to hap-pen is for someone to be punished. We forget Galatians 6:7 don’t be mis-led--you cannot mock the justice of

God. You will always harvest what you plant (NLT). If in our justice sys-tem and social policy we sow punish-ment and violence, then why are we so surprised by what we reap? The job of punishment belongs to God Romans 12:19 Dear friends, never take re-venge. Leave that to the righteous an-ger of God. For the Scriptures say, "I will take revenge; I will pay them back," says the LORD (NLT). So what then is the role of soci-ety in ending crime, oppression, vio-lence and suffering? Matthew 5:43 “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. 44 But I say, love your ene-mies! Pray for those who persecute you (NLT). MACC Food Pantry

Current needs: Cereal * Canned meats (tuna, chicken, ham & beef stew) * Peanut butter Pasta & sauce *

Canned veggies & fruits * Soup * Healthy snacks for children Condiments (mustard,

ketchup, mayo, salad dressing etc.) Toilet tissue * Paper towel * Diapers *

Laundry detergent Feminine products * Toothpaste * Tooth brush-

MACC is in desperate need of paper grocery bags and plastic grocery bags. We ask our

help!

Thanks to all who

faithfully donate!

SCRIP is NUMC’s on-going fundraiser in which all are welcome and

encouraged to participate every week!

If everyone were to participate by simply pur-chasing store cards for their weekly

grocery budget—the church would benefit great-ly with NO additional cost to you.

Not to mention other regular purchases—gas, drug stores, restaurants, fast food, etc.

Direct questions to: Irene Fitzgerald

Thank you very much. All

the volunteers did a great job. I am very grateful for the help with such an important job. As you know it gets very hectic at the awards table, it is one of the most important aspects of the meet. As a meet director to be able to turn that responsibility over and not worry is so helpful. North United Methodist Church has been such a blessing to me and the team. Thank you again for all you have done. I hope this can become a tradi-tion. Thayer Redman MHS. Head Track & Field Coach
