Military Photojournalism Course and to SanDiego, Ca. or three months to design a book.I worked on a nationwide ad campaign or theMarine Corps and, most importantly, I was ableto deploy to Iraq. I spent three months at CampFallujah beore leaving the Marine Corps andheading back to the civilian world.

I moved up the New York City in 2007and tried my hand at being a reelancephotographer. I had moderate success in theeld, working or a photo agency and a ewnewspapers; but in 2008, I decided to take a ull

time job with the Air National Guard as a VInormation Manager. It was during this timthat I started to train mysel in video produand video editing.

While I enjoyed my job and the area whelived, I always elt like I was missing somethTat something, or me, was the satisactionI got by being a member o the active dutymilitary. I wanted to get back into the swingthings, serve my country on a ull time basi

and, most importantly, achieve one o mylielong goals to become an ocer.

In the summer o 2008, I received a degrin photojournalism rom Syracuse UniversiA year later I went to an Air Force recruiterput in an application and nearly two years laI am nally here on the path to ullling mydream at Ocer raining School. O! IS SOMEHING FUNNYO YOU? It turns out you are nosupposed to laugh when beingaddressed by an upperclassman.

Welcome to D0. Each o us caminto OS with a dierent idea o was to come, and each o us had adierent way o dealing with it. Fme, I came in with the attitude ththis would all be a mind game anmy best chance to get through wobe to not get noticed and not takeanything that is said too seriouslyas it really isnt that important - tare just trying to break me down

quickly became clear that neitherthose attitudes was going to workGradually, through a low at diet supermans, tight meals, and cuberuns, I began to adjust to this traias did my fightmates. We began think and act as a group, rather thindividuals, and we soon realizedthat no one person can accompliseverything by themselves. Some responded well to the vocally elev

commands rom our A and L;but or me the biggest moments ogrowth came in the quiet and sinmoments when an upperclassmanwould pull me aside, express howvaluable this training really is, anme how it has impacted them oveprevious weeks.

I believe this training is some o t

best I have ever received and that ov

last 5 to 6 weeks, we have made chan

that would take years in the civilianworld. Te purpose o this training

to mold us into individuals who can

make the tough choices and under t

    worst circumstances while maintain

an image o condence to those und

our command. We have a decent sta

at understanding what the Air Force

demand rom us. Now, over the nex

months, we will be tested in new wa
