Scouting Henderson StateThe Reddies are 7-12 overall and 5-8 in the Great American Conference standings after falling 42-43 to UAM Saturday. HSU has a -5.8 scoring and -1.1 rebounding margin for the year and trails in most categories. However, the Reddies lead their opponents with 7.1 to 4.4 triples per game.

HSU has two players in double digits in the scoring column and two more with nine points per game. Aungelique Sledge leads the team across the box score, with 18.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, while shooting .442 from the field and adding 42 assists and 37 steals. Haleigh Henson is next on the scoring list, with 10.8 points per game.

Against the ReddiesEarlier this season the Tigers claimed a 67-40 win over the Reddies in Arkadelphia. ECU had a strong shooting night with a 42.6 percentage and held HSU to a 38.6 mark.

Four of the Tigers five seniors scored in double digits in the game, with Taylor Fischer leading the team with 18 points. Erin Walling added 15 points, Ashleigh Kelman-Poto 13 and Dilan Webster 12.

Deidra McCoy led the Reddies with 15 rebounds, while Makyndra Simmons tallied 16 points and Aungelique Sledge added 12.

The SeriesThe all-time series with the Reddies is a short one, with ECU holding a 7-2 advantage after winning the last two games. The Tigers are also 2-1 when playing at home.

Scouting Arkansas-MonticelloThe Cotton Blossoms head into this week’s games with a 10-8 overall record and an 8-5 mark in the GAC after winning their last two. UAM will face Southern Nazarene before coming to Ada. The Cotton Blossoms are leading their opponents in most categories, including a +2.0 scoring and +2.3 rebounding margin.

UAM has three players that are averaging double-digits scoring. The team leader is Jordan Goforth, who nets 19.6 points and 6.5 boards per game, while shooting .481 from the field, .417 from beyond the arc and adding 41 assists. Nikki Mullen adds 10.2 points and Nelsha Peterson 10.0 points per game.

Against the Cotton BlossomsThe Tigers came home with a 69-65 overtime victory over UAM in the opening game of the 2014-15 GAC season.

Senior Dilan Webster led ECU with 23 points, nine rebounds and five blocks. Senior Janee Garza added 15 points and senior Erin Walling 14 points and five boards.

Tori Nichols had a strong game for the Cotton Blossoms, with 14 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks. Jordan Goforth added 16 points and six boards.

The SeriesThe Tigers currently hold a 6-4 advantage in the all-time series with UAM after winning the last five games and going 2-1 when playing in Ada.

Coming off the BenchMost players get excited and do better when they move from an off the bench role to a starting spot, but the opposite has been true for senior Ashleigh Kelman-Poto. She has created a great spark coming off the bench for the Tigers. Kelman-Poto started the first five games of the season and was averaging 8.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, but in the games as the first player off the bench she has increased her output to 10.6 points and 5.5 boards per game.

Rogers Making NoiseFreshman Kendal Rogers may have seen action in all 15 of the Tigers games this season, but she made the most of her minutes against No. 15 Arkansas Tech. The Davis, Okla., native garnered a career-high 10 points, including six free throws and added four rebounds an assist and a block.

Tigers Leaving Their MarkAlong with having one of the best records in the NCAA at 12-5, the Tigers are ranked in the top-30 in three categories and have two players ranked in one category individually in the top-100. ECU is making the most noise in the turnover column, as they are ranked No. 2 with just 10.7 turnovers per game. The Tigers are also No. 10 in assist/turnover ratio (1.21) and No. 15 in turnover margin (5.28).

Senior Erin Walling is ranked No. 45 in ATR (1.78), while fellow senior Dilan Webster is No. 61 in blocks per game (1.67) and No. 87 in field-goal percentage (48.7).

LAST WEEK’S GAC GAMES

Resetting the Record BooksSenior Dilan Webster may be the leading blocker for the Tigers, but she is also making a mark for herself in the scoring columns. In the Dec. 6 game against Northwestern, Webster became the 13th player at ECU to earn 1,000 points, currently with 1,160. She is also among five active players in the Great American Conference that have over 800 points and become the fifth player in GAC history to hit the milestone.

Taylor Shaking it UpSenior Taylor Fischer has moved into her starting role for ECU with strong numbers compared to a season ago. In 2013-14, Fischer averaged 4.4 points and 1.9 rebounds per game and so far in 2014-15 she is netting 11.3 points and 2.8 boards per game.

Fischer Player of the WeekSenior Taylor Fischer has earned the first honor of the season for the Tigers, being named the Great American Conference Player of the Week for Dec. 8. Fischer pushed the Tigers to a 4-0 mark in the GAC as she averaged 17.5 points per game in victories against Southwestern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State last week. Against the Bulldogs, she scored 16 points with three rebounds, three assists and three steals. Against the Rangers, she scored 19 points and she made five 3-point field goals.

First Game/First WinFirst-year head coach Matt Cole started out his head coaching career the best way a coach can, with a win in his first game when the Tigers defeated Rogers State 57-54 (Nov. 15, 2014).

Already Atop the Leader BoardSenior Dilan Webster has been a force to deal with on the blocks, as she became the ECU all-time leading blocker before her junior season (2013-14). Webster tallied 30 more blocks a year ago and has 30 this season to move her own school record to 156 career blocks.

Up NextThe Tigers will hit the road for the final two-game road trip of the 2014-15 season when they stop at Southern Arkansas, Thursday, Feb. 12 and Ouachita Baptist, Saturday, Feb. 14.

Up Next at Kerr Activities CenterECU returns home for the final two-game week in Ada, Feb. 19-21. The Tigers will host Arkansas Tech (Feb. 19) and Harding (Feb. 21).
