Ford Parish Council.

Dog Fouling in the Parish.

It has been brought to the attention of Parish Councillors that there is still a problem of dog fouling on thepublic footpaths in the Parish. Dog owners are respectfully reminded that it is an offence to allow your dog tofoul the footpath and not pick up after them. Here is an extract from Northumberland County Council website:-“We don’t tolerate dog fouling in Northumberland. If you own a dog and it makes a mess, you clean it up.Failing to pick up after your pet is antisocial, dirty and spreads diseases like toxicariasis, which is of risk tochildren and can cause blindness. Yet it continues to be a problem, and one we take very seriously. If you’refound to have not cleaned up your dog’s mess, you will be issued with a fixed penalty notice of £100. Ifpayment is not received within 14 days you will be prosecuted. Offenders face a court appearance, with amaximum penalty of £1,000. Claiming ignorance of the dog's actions is not a valid defence. Registered blinddog owners are exempt from any fines.”

Please be responsible and clean up after your dog. Help to keep the Parish a great environment to walk in.

Ford Playground.Ford Parish Councillors are pleased to say that new play equipment is to be installed in the Ford play area atthe end of April. The equipment will need to be inspected on a weekly and monthly basis and councillorsare looking for a resident of Ford or surrounding area who may be willing to undertake this task. Sometraining may be required. If anyone is interested please contact the clerk (Steve Taylor – 01890 820566,[email protected]) or Cllr. Richard Baker for further information.

Extract from the Draft Minutes of Ford Parish Council meeting. Tuesday 13th March 2018 at 7pmThe full draft is available at www.wooler.org.uk/ford-pca) The clerk reported that Crookham Village Hall committee had agreed that it was acceptable to swap theParish notice boards from Crookham with the one in Ford. The clerk and Cllr. Baker will tackle this atsome point in the near future.6a. PC Darren Moffat reported that there had been three reported crimes in the area but none wereconnected. He also wanted to pay special thanks to the local community, especially the farmers, for all thework helping to clear roads during the recent spell of snow and bad weather.7. Consideration is being given to merging Ford and Duddo Parish Councils.8. Defibrillators. Cllr. Mills has reported that he will install the box for the defibrillator soon and will then ask Ian Ainslieto come and connect it up to the electricity supply.9. Playground Cllr Baker reported that since the last meeting more funding has come in for the playground :-Making aminimum total of £16897.0010. Street lighting.Lynsey Sawyer from the Northumberland LED Street Lighting Modernisation Project has asked for aposition of where the new street light in Ford is to be positioned if it goes ahead. Some discussion was hadon this and the clerk will try to send Lynsey a map with the position marked on it.11. Grit piles. There has been some concern voiced to councillors that having requested some piles of grit to be placed onLetham Hill and Hay Farm road, they have been placed near to trees and the worry is that they might causedamage to the trees. Councillors discussed the possibility of obtaining some containers for grit which couldpossibly be uplifted out of the way during the summer months and put back in place for winter.15. Planning.Councillors have received a lot of adverse comments about the addition of a porch to the Black Bull pub aspart of the renovation, especially the fact that it will have a slate roof and not thatch. The clerk was asked totry to contact the planning department and ask them to explain why this was deemed acceptable.

18 b) Cllr. Baker wanted to publicly thank all the local farmers and Ford and Etal Estates, including BobNevins and Neil Mole and their teams and Mac Bell who did such a good job clearing roads in the areaduring the recent bad snow fall.
