* Complete Exemption Certificate from HESA, where applicable

marks obtained for subjects and/or modules)* Certificate of registration with the relevant

B. APPLICATION IN PERSON

B.1 A prospective student approaches theuniversity through the o ce of the relevantffiHead of Department, the FacultyAdministrative O cer or the PostgraduateffiAdministrative O cer for guidance to theffiappropriate Programme Coordinator/HoD inrespect of the intended study.

B.2 An enrolment form for post-graduate diplomaor honours or masters or doctoral degree mustbe completed.

B.3 The completed enrolment form of successfulcandidates must be submitted to the FacultyAdministrative O cer or Postgraduate o ce.ffi ffi

B.4 The Postgraduate O ce allocates a studentffinumber to new students and the biographicalinformation is captured into the ITS system.

C. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Students who satisfy the requirements arewelcome to apply and register for Postgraduatestudies.

Admission Requirements:In order to be admitted to a MMed degree course a candidate must:(a) Be in possession of a MBChB or equivalent degree and be registered with the Health Professions Council

of South Africa (HPCSA) as a medical practitioner;(b) Be appointed to a Registrar's post recognized by the HPCSA. This post must be occupied for the full

Aim:The course in Health Promotion and Education forHealth aims to develop the ability of health, socialwork, agriculture, education and related workers atdistrict, regional, provincial and national levels andthose who will have the responsibility for planning,implementing and evaluating health promotionProgrammes. The course will enable participants toacquire a broad understanding of the many facetswhich impact on promoting health and wellbeing,and to develop skills necessary for improvingcommunication between service providers andcommunities, identifying needs, priorities, designappropriate educational materials, advocate andnegotiate policies to strengthen community action,and implement empowering educational processes.

Course Design:(a) The Postgraduate Diploma in Health

Promotion is an action-learning based full-time one year course with six residentialteaching modules for the full-time programme.

(b) Self-study segments supported by customdeveloped teaching materials form part of bothcurriculums.

(c) Each residential teaching block will last for sixdays (Monday to Saturday).

(d) Students must undertake a project based intheir work setting/agencies working in theirarea of interest.

Admission Criteria:(a) Applicants must be in the possession of a

bachelor's degree or equivalent in Health orrelated disciplines.

(b) Priority will be given to those who have or will have:

- The responsibility for planning, implementingand evaluating health promotion activities atdistrict, regional and provincial level.

- The responsibility for promotion of health and well being in direct liaison with the community.

Duration:(a) One year full-time.

SCHOOL OF LAWThe School of Law has made a significant contributionto the legal fraternity in South Africa over the previousyears. It has, amongst others, produced esteemedjudges and advocates like judges BM Ngoepe (theJudge President of Transvaal Provincial Division), PMojapelo (Deputy President of Transvaal ProvincialDivision), Y Mokgoro (Judge of the ConstitutionalCourt), L Mailula (Judge of the High Court), to name afew.
