Overall Findings:• Bullying in the workplace a very real reality• People with ID want bullying to be taken seriously• Verbal is the most reported form of bullying (all

parties)• FG attendee’s reported feeling angry, down &

anxious• FG attendee’s in Ireland, Spain & NI: bullied as

they are perceived as weaker (by themselves or others)

Overall Findings:• Most reported bullying by parents/carers is by a

colleague with ID• Need for training- request from trainers, employers

& parents/carers• All trainers felt interpersonal & communication skills

were important • Trainers feel very confident in training ability but

much less so in training about bullying (NI the

exception)

Overall Findings

• Bullying took place during work hours• Parents/carers feel son/daughter should get bullying

information from work• Employers place great importance in dealing with

bullying• Employers feel there is massive impact on

productivity

FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS:• Training for all- anti-bullying & disability

awareness • Programme for people with ID who bully

(empathy training) • Teach the practical skills and vocabulary • Educate those in authority on the dangers of all

kinds of bullying

FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS:

• Policy in workplace needs to include bullying & people with ID.; specific guidelines on how the bullying will be addressed

• Address all incidents of bullying • Teach everyone if you see it you must report it
