11 Information about the organisation Inside back cover
Dear well wishers & friends,
It is my pleasure putting before you the report of Anjali’s activities and accounts for the year 2012-13. Anjali has completed 24 years of activities on 29th January 2013 which marks the beginning of silver jubilee year. Health services being Anjali’s one of the main activities many health programms like out reach eye & surgical operation camps in tribal areas of Sabarkantha district along with blood donation, surgical operation & dental camps at Ranasan & surrounding villages have been planned during the silver jubilee year.
It was possible to achieve this milestone with the assistance and help of donors & well-wishers. To renew & consolidate the relations, express gratitude and present the activities in detail, Sneh-Milan programms are planned at Ranasan, Mumbai, Vadodara and Ahmedabad. As employees are also an important aspect of the organisation a Sneh-Milan is also planned with them & their families.
The expansion of Anjali Hospital is on the verge of completion. The utilisation of Medical Unit constructed with assistance of GGP-Japan will start from May’2013. It will add to patient’s convenience & better care. With the addition of new wards and facilities new staff will be needed and our responsibilities will also increase. But I have hope & faith that with god’s grace & assistance & cooperation of you all, we will be able to shoulder the responsibilities.
Women’s activities are progressing well. Once a year coming to Anjali for meetings, coming for various training programms, organising & planning annual tours have become routine and are now eager to shoulder responsibilities and are desirous of doing something, of course they need encouragement & guidance. Have started thinking that they want to do something for collective needs of the groups, and in month of March they now start talking about accounts & savings.
At this stage I feel fortunate by the significant assistance & support you have provided all these years. I am thankful to you. Do visit Anjali at your convenience.
With prayers to the almighty

• The hospital expansion (medical unit) with the assistance of Japan government's Grants for Grassroot Projects (GGP) is nearing completion and will be functional by May'2013.
• Since last 24 years TB centre is functional at Anjali Hospital. With assistance from the district TB department Anjali Hospital is designated Diagnostic & Microscopy Centre (DMC). TB patients are diagnosed & detected at this centre and are sent to respective PHC's for treatment under DOT (directly observed therapy). The state health department gave an award to Anjali Hospital for good work done during the year.
• Fire safety equipments were installed in Anjali Hospital, Center for CBDA & Kitchen. To protect the campus from lightening, two lightening arrestors were installed at two different locations.
• Anjali has completed 24 years of activities and has entered 25th year. The whole year is being celebrated as silver jubilee year. Surgical operation camps, dental camps, blood donation camp, eye operation camps & surgical operation camps in Khedbrahma & Meghraj tribal talukas are planned during the year as part of the celebration. Sneh-Milans of friends, well-wishers & donors are planned at Mumbai, Vadodara & Ahmedabad.
• On occasion of entry in to the 25th year a Sneh - Milan of donors & well-wishers of the local area was organised. Fr. William of Karamsad presided over the Sneh-Milan.
(2) Women's Activity :
• Efforts were made to motivate the members by regular meetings with saving groups, organising tours and by providing awareness & information on various aspects.
• Members of Village Health, Sanitation & Nutrition Committee (VHS&NC now Gram Sanjivani Samiti) were given training at Anjali last year. This year members of Anjali attended meetings at village level as mentors. Active members of saving groups were included as members of Sanjivani Samiti. The experience was somewhat satisfactory as it is not possible to do things as per training given but good efforts were put in by nurses & Asha workers.

• In course of meetings of saving groups it was realised that all the members need cattle feed for their cattle. They felt to do something collective for this. Three saving groups accepted the challenge and purchased cattle feed directly from the factory & supplied the same to the members with little profit. Two of the three groups were successful in the venture. But all the members of the three groups benefitted considerably. The benefits were due to the fact that if everyone went on their own they had to pay vehicle rent, profit of the retailer & one day's work or labour. This collective effort was a good lesson for them which has potential of entrepreneurship development.
• One day training pertaining to laws related to women was organised for the leaders of the groups. As all the leaders found the knowledge about the laws very useful it was decided to give detailed information to all the members about domestic violence, marriage registration, sexual harassment of women & women rights during the year 2013-14.
• A volunteer from Two Way development came to the organisation for five months. She studied the women's programm and its effects on women.
• Come winter and the women start discussing the tour programm. They decided the place of the tour, collected fees & handled the management during the tour. They went to Kankaria in Ahmedabad & Mahudi in Mehsana district.
• During summer they now remember about monthly meetings and trainings to be organised at Anjali and regularly attend the meetings & trainings. This year they prepared annual planning. They strengthened their understanding about bad habits (tobacco, alcohol) decided to make efforts at getting rid of bad habits. All the women were given understanding about importance of having toilets in the house. Not only hygienic aspect but from social aspect it has become necessity for their daughters, daughter in-laws & old parents. The understanding was implemented by 40 members by constructing toilets by taking loans from their saving groups. All the members were given seeds for growing vegetables in their back yards
• Most of the members sent their newly married children and adolescent boys & girls to the respective get together
• The members of Ranasan saving groups organised an anti-alcohol demonstration march and a programm of anti- alcohol songs in middle of the village.

(3) Environment Enrichment Activity:
• Dadarda village is located 12 Kms north of Ranasan. The village has saving groups in the village and the village was part of maternal & child health activity as a part of Service NGO programm. The village has a big lake which has good income of water but it is heavily silted and shallow. About three-four years back the members of panchayat proposed that we develop the lake but we couldn’t do it. This year after a meeting with members of panchayat & villagers, as they were desirous, the lake was developed. As it was not possible to procure JCB from Saurashtra Jaldhara Trust this year the work was done by hiring private JCB at higher cost. The lake was deepened, the bank was strengthened. With the help of new bank upstream, a smaller new lake was created which would stop silting of the whole lake and in future only the small lake has to be de silted. There was good cooperation from the Dadarda village. Such activity is not possible without local cooperation. We want to continue this activity in the area provided there is cooperation and involvement of the people of the villages.
• Since 2009-2010 Anjali started tree plantation on both sides of roads. Last year 104 trees were planted near Rayna Lake to which about 400 trees were added this year. Staff members, volunteers from Tree Man group & volunteers from the village participated in the plantation programm. We are desirous of planting trees every year.
