The German Year in numbers

• 85 Partner Universities in Germany

• 14 Network Heads in Germany

• 1978 GJU students went to Germany

• Total number of students at GJU: 3771

Total of about 200 students from Germany at GJU from 30 different universities

This fall: 24 German students from 16 different universities

plus 23 students for the special course in Arabic Language

International office – Overview

• Outgoing Centre:

• Organizing the German Year (except internships)

• Advising students about studying and living in Germany

• Train the Trainer Program for academic and administrative staff of GJU (up to 4 months stays in Germany)

• Welcome Centre: Flying professors and Incoming students (mostly from Germany), Study Buddy, International Visitors’ Program

• Scholarship Centre for GJU students

• Strategic Tasks: Recruiting new Partner Universities for GJU, (re)structuring the German Year (G. Y. Committee), fundraising

Flying Faculty Program

Around 25 FP at GJU every year (open for all Schools)

PO Magdeburg covers ticket and honorary payment

GJU covers daily lump sum of 80 JD (new!)

Lectures preferably in third year and in German

Train the Trainer Program

Aim: Sustainable Administration and Applied Teaching at GJU through trainings in Germany

• Part of the Network of Career Guidance Offices (CGOs) established on a national level under the umbrella of the King Abdallah Fund for Development (KAFD)

• Supports students in finding the obligatory 160 hours field training in Jordan

• Provides CV writing and interview training sessions (Jordanian, regional and German market)

• Alumni Service: Monitors the Alumni data base, provides job offers for GJU graduates

• Organizes an annual GJU Job Fair
