Course Objectives:

•To help students develop clinical skills needed to care for members of adoption and foster care triads

•To introduce awareness of biological, psychological, and social issues related to adoption and foster care

•To provide medical students an opportunity to consider their own attitudes about adoption and foster care

•To introduce medical students to the range of community resources available for patient education and referral

Requirements for Credit

Participation in class discussion

Attend at least 7 sessions

Weekly 1-2 page paper reflecting on the relationship between the course and your clinical learning experience. A model paper will be provided.

A final paper describing how participation in the course has affected your beliefs about adoption and foster care, and how you expect your participation in the course will impact your professional practice.
