LEBANON CHEMICAL EXPANDS COMMITMENTTO TURF MARKET

Dave Ferron has been appointed golfproduct application engineer/ field servicefor the newly formed Golf Division of RainBird Sales, Inc., Glendora, Calif. The an-nouncement was made by Ed Shoemak-er, division vice president.

In his new position Ferron supervises thefield servicing of all Rain Bird golf courseirrigation products on the West Coast. Healso provides training on updated service

Construction of a new warehouse is a signof Lebanon Chemical's expanding commit-ment to the turf market, says its president,Vernon Bishop. Ground was broken recentlyfor the 52,000 square foot building locat-ed adjacent to the company's headquart-ers and main plant in Lebanon, PA.

The company has also been steadily build-ing a national network of storage facilitiesto improve service to customers outside ofPennsylvania. Four other Lebanon plants

with warehouses are located in Jamesport,Long Island, NY, Dayton, NJ, Danville, IL,and Richmond, VA. The expansion has in-creased Lebanon's presence in the turf mar-ket to 300 distributors in 42 states.

Bishop believes that "quick manufactur-ing" to meet seasonal demand is the wrongapproach. "The additional storage capaci-ty allows Lebanon to meet peak season de-mands without sacrificing production stan-dards," he says."

AIR INJECTION SYSTEM

Beginning this month, a new air injectionsystem will be standard on all Grass Cad-dy attachments for Cushman Front Linemowers. The new blower system increasesair volume in the pickup chute by 30 per-cent which prevents the problem of wetgrass clippings plugging the chute .. Trashand clippings do not pass through theblower.

The steel blower housing mounts on themower deck. A ten-inch cast aluminum blow-er wheel is driven by a V-belt from the mowerdeck gear box. A four-inch flexible hose in-jects air into the chute to create a high-speedcushion of air to the hopper.

Owners of existing Front Lines with GrassCaddies can obtain a retrofitting kit for theair injection system. The company recom-mends the system be used for Front Lineswith 18 hp or more for best results whenmowing wet grass.

The Grass Caddy is designed specificallyfor Front Line mowers equipped with 60-inch side discharge mower decks. It fea-tures a 16-bushel hopper and hydraulicdump system. Without leaving the mowerseat, the operator can empty the hopperinto a truck bed or trailer up to 4112 feet high.A window in the hopper cover enables theoperator to see when it is getting full.CUSHMAN·RYANCircle 134 on Postage Free Card

GROUND DRIVE SPREADER

No PTO or separate engine is requiredto operate Blue River's three-bushel seed-er/spreader. Designed with all-terrain ve-hicles in mind, the spreader is ground driven.A heavy duty roller chain and sealed 90degree gearbox transfer power smoothlyfrom an axle-mounted sprocket to thespreader's fan and cast iron agitator.

A jaw-type clutch allows the drive line tobe disengaged for easy movement betweenfields. The hopper shut-off gate allows theunit to be set in motion before materialreaches the agitator, thus preventing lockeddrive lines. Controls are easily accessibleto the driver of the pulling vehicle.

Three and five bushel hopper extensionsare available to raise the unit's seed or fer-tilizer capacity to either six or eight bushels. The unit can be used in rugged or hard-to-reach areas and is simple to operate.BLUE RIVER EQUIP. CO.Circle 138 on Postage Free Card
