Whoever said consistency breeds success maywwant to talk to the Oakville Crusaders under-14Lancers squad.

Despite rotating players throughout the teamthroughout the year, the Lancers dominated theirrugby competition this season. Oakville outscoredits opponents by an average of 44-8 during theregular season, then 38-0 during the playoffs onthe way to winning the provincial U14 champion-ship.

Forty-one different players contributed to thesuccess of the squad this season, including a num-ber of junior level and first-year players. Two juniorlevel players and two players new to rugby madethe Lancers’ 21-player playoff roster.

“When we started our indoor practices, thecoaches realized we had a special group of players.

It would have been easy for us to designate all returning players to the senior Lancers team, but that would not hold to our commitment to excel-lence,” said Lancers coach Doug Iwasa. “We wanted to give every player, 74 in total for the U14 pro-gram, a fair chance to make the Lancers.”

Suiting up for the Lancers this season were Simon Fitzgerald, Doug Iwasa, Michael Coldwells, Greg Bobesich, Connor McNamee, Tate Bastien, Clifford Low Davies, Jared Hines, Sean Borden, Dan Podlovics, Cameron Elliott, Sam Vasilaros-Wilson, Dan Devlin, Noah Bussmann, Michael Cameron, Sam Scott, Chei Harrison, Teke Rerri, Derek McCann, Terry Wallace, Shaun Devine, Nicholas Lewczuk, Jack Devine, Brandon Rawson, Jack McCann, Ben Wallace, Alex Sweet, Logan Macneil, Cole Oulette, Scott Sandre and Aidan Swanepoel.
