Dear parents It is a very exciting day today as the P&C and staff prepare for the fete this afternoon. After many, many months of planning, it is now time for the whole school community to enjoy this great event. The P&C have ensured that there will be something for everyone with a range of stalls including White Elephant, face painting, hair and nail stalls and plenty of food from the canteen. There are also rides and a jumping castle. We hope you can join us for a great afternoon and support our P&C and students at the same time. Coding at Tolland Earlier in the week I had the opportunity to visit 5/6F in the Library working with Mr Fryer. This term the students have been learning how to code (using a program called Scratch). Their challenge is to build a lego machine and then program (code) the machine to move around. Watching the students working collaboratively together was amazing and listening to the way they had to problem-solve on the run was really exciting. Some of the students also have the opportunity to attend a robotics class at Mount Austin HS every Tuesday for a masterclass in coding. Kindergarten 2017 Parent Information Sessions Information sessions for parents of children commencing Kindergarten in 2017 will be held in the Library on Wednesday 23rd November. We encourage all parents to come along to hear important information to assist in a successful transition to Kindergarten in 2017. Narrandera Swim Reward Day On Wednesday 14th December, we are holding our final reward day for the year at the Narrandera Lake Talbot complex. This is a chance to acknowledge those students who have displayed our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Care and Co-operation. The school has subsidised part of the total, making the cost for the day only $10.00. This includes the bus trip and entry to the pool. Please make sure you pay by the due date so the students can enjoy a fabulous day. Have a great week. 2017 KINDERGARTEN

PARENT INFORMATION SESSION

Wednesday 23rd of November 9:30am – School Library

Come for morning tea and be prepared to start school in 2017.

This term in K-2N and 1-4M the students have

studied a unit of work on the Fancy Nancy

book collection by Jane O’Connor. To

celebrate the end of our unit of work we had a

Fancy Nancy dress up party where the

students wore their fanciest outfits and

completed some special activities including

decorating bow ties and painting our nails!

3/4B have been conducting inquiry based learning in Science this term. Students investigated our current playground and decided they could design a more exciting area to play in. Through creativity and collaboration students worked together to design and make a model playground suited to our school.

They collected data from their peers, and considered the needs of students in the school. The process started by sketching their ideas, creating a design criteria and using a variety of materials to represent their ideas. Thank you to all the parents who brought in materials to help us create our amazing models.
