SUMMARY;

The electromagnetic survey found no conductors of importance. The magnetic survey permitted some extrapolation of the contacts found in mapping, although generally speaking the data was of little value. The magnetic expression of the gabbro and the paragneiss was erratic.

be dropped.

INTRODUCTION:

No further work is recommended and the option should

Vork was started on the Tomrose property to investi gate a favourable contact area, which could contain nickel bearing sulphides. The electromagnetic survey was conducted to locate any conductors which could be massive sulphides, while the magnetometer results would be useful to map the contact and supplement the geology.

As eight claims were under extension a previousreport No. 6433 was written to cover the work on these eight claims. This report supersedes the report 6433.

LOCATION AND ACCESS;

The property is accessible by truck from River Valley, a town on the Canadian National Railway, running from North Bay to Capreol.

KETHOD OF SURVEY;

A Sharpe MF-1 Fluxgate magnetometer, direct reading to an accuracy of 10 gammas, was used to conduct the survey at a station spacing of 25 feet on lines 200 feet apart.

The electromagnetic survey was conducted by twoinstruments, a Crone Jr. E.K., and a Ronka unit. The Ronka unit was used in thf flat areas while the Crone E.K. was used in rough country. The method of measurement is slightly different but they will both detect small conductors of the type to be expected on the property, under reasonable depths of overburden.

GEOPffiSICAL INTERPRETATION;

h,. Sheet 1.

Area A is a zone of magnetic highs and lowssuggestive of disseminated mineralization which is on a hill and could be worth prospecting. There are two weak conductors shown on the electromagnetic map shown as A and B. A has magnetic correlation. Neither conductor is very impressive as no correl ation is obtained from the high frequency response.

Sheet 2.

There is a regular magnetic high striking north west across the property. This is expected to be a diabase dike, possibly wroken into two dikes as shown.

Sheet 3.

The continuation of the magnetic high to the north west is apparent on Sheet 3.

Sheet 4.

There is a rather Irregular magnetic high shown as B, which could be of interest but again there is no electromagneticindication.

SheetJiA.

There is nothing of interest.

Sheet 5.

One magnetic high zone, shown as C, occurs in gabbro, in the southwest corner of the map sheet, which could be of interest.

V Sheet 6.

The favourable contact goes through the area of Sheet 6, but the electromagnetic data gave no suggestion of the presence of massive sulphides. The northwest corner of the sheet shows a magnetic disturbance, indicated as 5, which is a continuation

on Sheet 5.

^yflheet 7.

There is nothing of interest.

i Sheet 9.

There is very little of interest. There are no con ductors evident on the contact outlined.

Sheet 10. ,

There is a possible fault interpreted on this sheet on extension of ore found from known geology. Three magnetic disturbances shown aa D, E and F could bo of interest.

SheOt 11.

There is a magnetic disturbance in the north part of the she e i- which is probably magnetic segroeations in the paragneiss. There is probably a paragneiss gabbro contact which would be hard to locate in this area.

Sheet 12.

Sheet 14.

Sheet

There is nothing of interest.

There is nothing of interest.

The mapped geological contact cannot be correlated with the magnetic picture.

Sh.ee t

Nothing of interest shows up.

There is nothing of interest.

There is very little to be said about the electro magnetic survey. Oily two conductors have shown up. Neither of these are very impressive although one does have magnetic correl ation. To prospect for disseminated type ore bodies would require a large expensive program of Induced Polarization work, v.Mch is not varr anted at this stage.

The magnetic data has been used to outline thedifferent rock types where possible. The geological contacts were taken from R. Saukko's mapping, and the geophysical data used to extend or modify these contacts without conflicting with known geology .

Very little of interest has shown up from themagnetometer survey. There appears to be segregations of magnetite both in gabbro and the paragneiss.

It is reooanended that the water oorered areas be surreyed this winter but no further work can be reooanendjd on the ground already sunre/ed.

Sulphides had been uncovered by prospecting in a gabbro or possibly norite with interesting nickel ralues. The property was, therefore, optioned and electroaagnetio and nagnttoaeter surreys conducted In an attempt td find a Massive sulphide ore body.

LOCATION AMP ACCESSi

The property is accessible by road from River Valley, a town on the C.N.R. line, (see the location map)

METHOD OP

Lines were cut at 200 ft. intervals at right angles to the expected strike of any ore bodies. Magnetometer stations were read at 25 Ft. intervals along these lines u'tng a Sharpe MF-1 fluxgate magnetometer of sensitivity 20 gamuts per division.

The electromagnetic work was somewhat more complicated. A Ronka unit was used in areas of flat country which was somewhat rare on this property and a Crone Junior B.K. unit especially designed for such country was used over the rest of the property* Both types of results are plotted on one electromagnetic map.

- , .Varying anounta of nagnetiU in different rock* near

the earth's surface produce meaaurable differencea in the earth's magnetic field. By Measuring these differences the underlying rock structure can often bc inferred even though oorered with overburden. '

Occasionally the structure containing the sulphides can be determined from the aagnetometer surrey* The results can also bo used aa a guide to the presence of pyrrhotite and vary ing rock types.

When an electrical conducting body ia placed in an alternating magnetic field, small eddy currents of electricity are induced in the conductor.

For the special case vhere the magnetic field direct ion ia horisontal and the conductor an alraost vertical lens of sulphide ore, the eddy currents flow very nearly around the circumference of the ore body. These eddy currents set up their own nagnetic field. If this field can be measured the presence Of a sulphide deposit can be detected.

The method of detecting the presence of a secondary field varies. In some cases, the field is neasured V r the distortion or tilt of the field. Units employing this system are the Crone S.K. and vertical .loop system.

Another method of measuring the presence of the secondary current is to detect changes in phase and amplitude of the secondary field by comparing it with a reference field provided on the instrument. The Bonks and nagniphase systems aoploy this technique.
