Our year 5 students stepped up to show their leadership skills while the year 6 students are on camp in Melbourne. Having the opportunity to per- form in front of an audience was a bit daunting for some but they took on the challenge and did very well. The students singing of ‘Lest We Forget’ was very moving. Thank you to all teachers for their preparation of students and setting up for the day. Student Led Interviews: Thank you to the families who have already returned their preferred times for the interviews. I will be collating the times and sending home your interview times early next week. If the times or date don’t work for you please contact your child’s teacher and make another time. On Tuesday 15th September students only need to come to school for their interview. Students will once again be taking you through their achievements for the term and their goals. This is a very important process so please make the most of the time allocated. Bike Ed and Road Safety: Mr Tinning and Mrs Haw are conducting the Bike Ed Program for year 3 students. This is a wonderful program that helps students learn about road rules and safety as well as maintenance and care of their bike. We certainly hope this makes students safer on the roads. I have noticed that some students are being dropped off in the morning in Miller Street and crossing the road near the bus stop. If you drop your child off in Miller Street would you please let them out near the school crossing so they can use the crossing and be safer. Enrolments for 2016: If you have a child starting school in 2016 would you please return the enrolment forms to the office as soon as possible. If you will be leaving the school at the end of the year would you please let us know as we are beginning to look at class groupings for 2016. Year 6 Melbourne Camp: From all reports the students are having a wonderful time in Melbourne. Mr Alley has been updating our Facebook page with photos of the students and their activities. There will be more about the camp in next week’s newsletter I am sure! Don’t forget the Fathers’ Day stall on Friday Parents and Friends are kindly running their famous Fathers’ Day stall for all grades on Friday between 9.00 and 11.00.

Road Safety Following a visit from Brenda Wallis from Kyabram Police to commence the Grade 3 Bike Ed program, it is clear that there are several road rules that we need to be reminded about. From the Road Safety Road Rules 2009 document, it clearly states:-

Children’s Crossings When travelling towards a children’s crossing, you must drive at a speed so that you can stop safely. At a crossing which has ‘Children Crossing’ flags you must:

*Stop if a pedestrian is on or is about to step on the crossing, even if there is no crossing supervisor *Not go until the pedestrian has left the crossing

Scooters Scooter riders must:

*Follow the rules for wheeled devices (eg bicycles) *Wear an Australian Standards approved bicycle helmet *Ride with at least one effective brake on their scooter

BUBBLE PRINT PAPER Grade 1/2F On Wednesday Grade 1/2F made bubble print paper in science. You need 3 cups of detergent, 7 cups of warm water, 1 cup of sugar and paint. You get a straw and you blow into the straw and hexagon bubbles come up. You get some paper and put that over the bubbles and the paint goes onto the paper. By Riley W
