2019 CLASSES Our numbers have now been confirmed and we are able to maintain our current class structure. I would like to thank all the families who have kept us informed of their movements and encourage anyone who makes the decision to move in the future to contact the school at the earliest possible time. SWIMMING CARNIVAL Congratulations to all involved in this weeks’ swimming carnival. It was a terrific day with great swimming by some talented athletes. Congratulations to: Annabelle Lee – Senior Girl Champion Joseph Cheika-Douaihy – Senior Boys Champion Ava Saad - 11 Years Girls Champion Liam Grant – 11 Years Boys Champion Gwen Vernon & Zoe Lee - Junior Girls Champion Jamie Blanning – Junior Boys Champion There was some outstanding swimming that will put us in a great position for the Zone carnival coming up on March 7 th at Blacktown Swimming Centre. The winning House was Wentworth. We will recognise these achievements at an assembly at the end of this term. A special thanks to Miss McGoogan, who coordinated the carnival. BUZZ ASSEMBLIES Buzz assemblies are held in weeks 4 and 8 to celebrate students who have been responsible, respectful, safe learners. Parents of those students receiving awards will receive an invitation to the assembly. While it is nice to support your child we understand that parents may not always be able to get away from their work commit- ments. Invitations to the parents involved were sent out today. MEET THE TEACHER SESSIONS Meet the Teacher Sessions will be held on Tuesday February 19 th . Meetings will be held in your child’s class- room. Parents unable to make the session will be given any information handed out the next day. Parents can make appointments to see their child’s teacher through the office. We will be holding Parent/Teacher inter- views on Tuesday March 12 th . Support Unit: 4-4.45pm Stage 1: .4.00-4.30pm Kindy: 4.30-5.00pm Stage2: 5.00-5.30pm Stage3: 5.30-6.00pm STUDENT SAFETY Two aspects of student safety have been highlighted this week. The first is for all students to come to school with a school hat, clearly labelled. Students should wear their hat at recess and lunchtime. It is also sensible to wear it on the way home as this is often the hottest part of the day. The second issue is road safety. Many parents and community members have asked me to remind parents to cross at a crossing or use the lights when walking with children. Our school is located on busy roads and I respectfully ask that all parents do this. I am working with the council and the IGA manager to come up with a solution to promote safe pedestrian behaviour. SRC, ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERS & LIBRARY MONITORS INDUCTION An assembly for students chosen to represent in these groups will be held on Friday March 1 st in the hall at 2pm. Invitations to parents of these students will be sent out next week. YEAR 7 INFORMATION EVENINGS The school encourages parents of students in Year 6 to keep an eye on high school websites for information regarding open days and information evenings. We will endeavour to pass on all information we receive to you as well. Choice of High School forms will be sent home on Monday March 11 th and must be returned by March 19th. Their local school has already been filled in. THINKING DAY On Friday 22nd February, all Girl Guides and Scouts world-wide celebrate Thinking Day and so are encour- aged to consider others who are less fortunate. This year's theme is "Leadership", and Guides and Scouts are encouraged to work together to bring about positive change to their lives. Wearing their Girl Guide or Scout uniforms to school makes this day more significant to them. Girls who be- long to this group are invited to wear their Guide uniform to school. Thinking Day is the birthdays of both Lord Baden Powell and Lady Baden Powell who are the founders of the Scout and Guide Movement. Deputy Principal’s Report - Bruce Francis

Please note that when paying via the Parent Online Payment option (POP) you have to provide at least 24 hours for the money to be processed by the bank, so we advise that payment be made about 3 days before the due date, as advised on the permission slip.

Reminders From the Office—Freya Ingold - Administrative Manager

PSSA TEAMS PSSA teams have been finalized and students will receive permission notes next week. It was great to see so many students trying out. Zone trials for Representative teams are being run over the next two weeks. I wish all those who have been selected to trial, the very best. SCHOOL CAR PARKS After 8am the Binalong Rd school car park is for staff only. Please do not drive in or park your car in these areas. The car park driveways should not be used as a walkway into the school as this presents a danger to students, staff and community. The Fitzwilliam Rd carpark is for staff only at all times unless permission has been provided by the principal. EMERGENCY INFORMATION CARD UPDATE 2019 At the beginning of each year we ask all families update any contact details, including emergency contacts and phone numbers which may have changed since last year. It is an important part of our beginning of year processes as it ena-bles us to ensure we have the most up-to-date contact details for each student.

P&C Band — Vanessa Wegener

Music Mondays kicked off with a bang this year when tutorials & rehearsals commenced in Week 2 and we welcomed School Bands to our program. After ironing out a few kinks in the timetable, everyone has settled into their routines with the support of the wonderful TPS staff. The iconic theme from Jurassic Park already echoing through the school. School Bands have been impressed with student attendance and have initially assisted by collecting students from classrooms. Students are encouraged to check the timetable outside the bicentennial room and will be responsible for their own attendance over the term. With all lessons during school time, students will now get to enjoy the majority of their recess & lunch, a concern we addressed after being highlighted by our parents and the school last year. School Bands now run all of the learning aspects of our Band Program so any correspondence regarding tutorials and rehearsals should be made directly to Martin or Laura at [email protected] Your P&C have been working hard to ensure Instrument hire allocations are finalised and students have access to quality instruments & equipment to support their learning. This week we took delivery of two beautiful French Horns to add to our collection. If any student has an interest in learning the incredible French Horn please contact us. All instrument queries should be made to [email protected]
